There are probably celebrations in China as 8 is considered a very lucky number. I remember TV footage from 08/08/88.

I would love to know which of the site team changed my avatar when I took a break from the site. I would love to know the inspiration for this one . I don't know where I got the head banging one from so I cannot replace it -
I believe that is what I said here

Hello Crusher, How are you? -
It doesn't require a hearing if the mother of the child agrees, as in Dave's case. An order is only require if the mother contests the fathers application.

Fine thanks UK. Still very busy at work though -
I noticed that you had posted BEFORE the fire, that is why I said it was unfortunate.

It was a bit unfortunate for you to post about a pier just yesterday and now it seems like you are rubbing salt into the wounds of the people of Weston-Super-Mare

I will make sure I have the blackout blinds down at the weekends then natty p.s. Hi UK -
I remember helping an Ex fiance with this one when she wanted her partner to have parental responsibility for their son. The way to go about it is to go through the courts and make a Parental Responsibility Agreement. If I recall correctly it was just a case of form filling at the court and approval being given by a judge.

FYI Posts in the bear garden do not add to the post count tally. Only posts in other areas of the forum do. -

For me it definitely has to be short skirts. There is nothing better than a nice set of legs. -
I hate to tempt fate but Grand Central are running their full timetable again at the moment. I will post here if that changes.

Margaret Thatcher to have £3million state funeral
blueskies replied to honey5's topic in The Bear Garden – for off-topic chat
I will take a more in depth look at just one of the many things Margaret Thatcher destroyed - The railways Throughout the Conservative government when she was leader the investment in the railways plummeted. The only large scale improvement work during her reign was the electrification of the East Coast mainline. Even that scheme was done on the cheap and the only way to overcome the problems is to replace most of it. The groundwork for privatisation was done during her reign (it was actually privatised by John Major's government), this was to cover a huge deficit in what was being promised in their manifesto and the income available. The network was sold for a knock down price (21,000 miles of track, signalling station buildings and other associated land sold in the form of Railtrack for less than it cost to build the 31.4 mile channel tunnel). Since then the government has paid far more money every year to keep it running than it actually cost under British Rail. The excess money being creamed off in the form of profits for the myriad of private companies that own it (a lot of which are owned by multinationals so the money doesn't even stay in this country). I know there is the argument that privatisation increases the efficiency of an organisation but surely the method of tackling the problem isn't to hand it to the private sector to make a profit but to deal with the inefficiencies and keep it in public ownership. Thatcher destroyed the industry I work in and a lot of others. I will not be shedding any tears at the funeral -

I agree entirely and I feel that it is regrettable that sites such as ours have difficulties in getting on with sites that are essentially on the same side, particularly sites that have broken away from this site. I am no angel here, I, when I was a moderator of this site, acted unwisely when dealing with another of the sites and caused increased animosity between sites. The real enemies, regardless of personalities and site politics, are the large financial institutions and we should be working as best we can to fight them TOGETHER. I write this as the list of sites given by RUC includes every site that I am aware of and more and there appear to be no bitterness/hostility in the statement. -

Hopefully for another drink in Croydon with Mr and Mrs Bookworm Well it is one of Dave's anecdotes that make me want to meet you. You have people waiting in a car outside and nip into a pub for the toilet.............
