  1. Sent the LBA, but didn't A as I was fairly busy over Christmas, anyway got a settlement letter for the full amount initially claimed. Decided to take that and get my OD cleared out and move to another bank, before claiming for the charges they've levied since the initial claim. So that's it! Ben 1 HSBC 0, just waiting for the £275 bank into my account then I'll donate some to the site. Many thanks folks
  2. Sending mine in the morning mate! Let me know how you get on!
  3. Another Deadline Passes with HSBC, no response, just printed off the LBA!!
  4. I opened with HSBC on a student account where they don't levy any charges, cash points stop paying out when you're about £300 over your OD limit and they'll still pay DDs and standing orders. At which point they'd phone you up and advise you to stop spending or get some cash in before using your account again. There is NO CHARGE for any of this. Being a student you learn fast, and what you learn is that although your agreed limit is, say, £1500 it's more like £1800. HSBC were so nice when I was a student, but as soon as they switched me to a regular account, they'll bounce anything, cashpoints keep paying and they don't call anymore. The worse thing is that now all this disservice costs me £25 a transaction, they managed to charge me £226 for going £230 over my OD limit, as it was in small transactions over a couple of days. Something the student account really gets you into the habit of doing. I'm not trying to absolve myself of blame for going over my OD limit but I just feel that I've been sort of, groomed into it, I was wondering if anyone else had this sort of experience with HSBC?
  5. They returned mine too, my statements were missing 10 pages though, and if you read HSBCrusher's thread you'll see that they didn't send us what we asked for "details of any manual intervention by HSBC staff" that's the juicy stuff where you can see why exactly they value you as a customer. Because you (and I) can potentially be milked for cash by these charges (allegedly...)
  6. Been reading this through. Going through with a claim at the moment, HSBC returned my cheque for the data request along with 6 years (minus 10 pages) of my statements, but none of the manual intervention data. I imagine this is so they don't have to fully comply with the request! I fancy sending the £10 back now and asking for all the data! HSBCrusher- what you've done is pretty cool, I'm really curious to see what the swines saw on your account closing notes.
  7. Hi Alison, How are you getting on vs the swines at HSBC?
  8. Sorry long time no post! Have to admit kicking my heals at going through my statements, seems while I was a student they didn't levy charges on my account, but in the last 2 months have managed to kick me with £276 and £75 on another account. On finding out about the last lot of charges (£125) I fired off an email via their system on internet banking. The response to this was a £75 "goodwill" gesture, which they promtly turned to ashes charging me a further £50 for slipping over my limit for a day:-x. Just putting the first written request in now, going to stick to those deadlines like glue now and I'm gunning for court, I changed the wording the request letter a bit to sickened as I really am that pee'd off with them. I've grown to hate HSBC bank, the sooner they defend and lose ther better, for everyone in the country. Oh and they managed to miss out 10 pages of my statements over the last 6 years too!!
  9. I would seem my statements arrived this morning, and they also returned my cheque for £10!
  10. Get the police in and nail the B*stard to the wall! Paypal are pretty soft when it comes to this sort of thing.
  11. What address did you use for the banking SAR?
  12. It was a cheque, though it seemed a bit strange as it was from the account that they are charging...
  13. I'm beginning to fancy my chances with a local loan shark, their interest rates seem reasonable, they hardly ever make these sort of charges and their manner is much more friendly than HSBC/First direct!! You should be able to get the charges back, read around on the forums. As for freezing your account, that's just low and I imagine against the bankers code. Someone more in the know than me will be able to confirm or deny that for you!
  14. Hi everybody, I'm here like the rest of you to claim back my charges. Last month I went £260 over my overdraft limit, which I have to say was rather usual in my student days with HSBC. Back then 2 things would happen: First cash points would stop paying you, Second HSBC would call you up and let you know. No Charges were ever issued on my student account. Recently they changed me to a standard account and the that £260 has now cost me £226 in total! I think three of the transactions I'm being charged £25 for are from cash points. Anyway I've started the process after I sent a message through the automated system at HSBC and got what seems to be the standard response. I've sent them the data request and a tenner, so I'm just awaiting the stack of paper!!
