  1. Well, this one has me absolutely LIVID. I paid £327.00 paid to Wescott (dca) early last year to settle my student loan. Some months later Wescott claimed I hadn't paid them, so I forwarded the giro credit stub. At the time I asked the SLC what the problem was and they confirmed that I owed them nothing. All to the good. But, it seems that after having paid the debt in full, it Wescott added charges to the amount for administration fees. Now the debt has been passed back to the SLC and they are trying to get a further £60.00. Has anyone else experienced something like this? Jeez!
  2. Hi All Our claims against Halifax and Barclays are quite straightforward. They amount to about £2500, with compound interest. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has successfully claimed via that route. HSBC and MBNA are slightly less easy as they both relate to a period when I suffered from depression, was hospitalised and completely lost a grip on my finances; with defaults being served against me. The (charge laden) debts being handed to two quite aggressive DCA’s who obviously did nothing to aid my recovery. (Interestingly I paid for protection insurance for both the HSBC overdraft/loan and the MBNA card, but neither would pay cover for so much as a day I was in hospital let alone the rest of the time I was unable to work.) In addition, both the HSBC and MBNA account were initiated well before 2000 so it seems I will have to estimate the charges accrued before the 6 year period mentioned in the Data Protection Act. Does this sound right? Mods - Great site! Many thanks to all those of you giving your time to help redress a situation that has caused so many people such grief. Rosie
