  1. Hello kind forum people. have had a little look on the FAQ and the Barclays forum but couldn't find what I was looking for. Barclays have sent us hubby's statements and we've added up all the items but I don't understand the difference between an Unpaid Out and a Paid Referral- can anyone help and should we claim for both? It also looks as though he's been charged £130 for bounced cheques- surely this can't be right??? Also is it worth mentioning that he's requested an O/D facility on numerous occasions but he's always been turned down, even though he has a good steady wage coming in and an O/D of just £100 would have meant 0 bank charges! If we do mention this- at what stage do we put it in? (I'm just about to write the prelim letter). Any help on either of the above Qs would be most appreciated. x
  2. Thanks very much- will give that a go and let you know how we get on. He has genuine heart rending reasons for having a shocking rating- not that I expect them to be sympathetic. We probably won't use the natwest a/c, it's just in case barclays get nasty. I'm going to transfer all his DDs to my a/c anyway since he's so bad at keeping it in credit- we just don't want him to be left with no bank a/c at all!
  3. We're about to claim back my husband's bank charges (SAR posted 1st class to Barclays last night), but wishing to follow the advice on the site I'm looking to get a new a/c set up for him asap. Problem is-he's got a very bad credit rating (not really his fault). He's been trying to leave Barclays for a while because they've refused to give him an O/D but he gets rejected by other banks because of the bad credit and also his dismal record for constantly going overdrawn. Can anyone recommend a bank that might accept him? All the bad debts were settled 2 yrs ago- he just goes overdrawn on a regular basis (mainly because they won't give him an overdraft). He doesn't need a debit card, just a cash card and the facility to set up & receive Direct debits.
  4. This is my first post so I apologise if there's an existing thread I should be looking at instead. I have a mere £6.46 left to pay of my student loan, which they confirmed to me when I rang last month. However they will still take £91 out of my wage this month and continue to do so until I send them all my P60s and subsequent wage slips to prove I don't owe them any more. Once they're satisfied i don't owe them any more (which takes up to 48 days!!!!) they will send a stop notice to my employer. Once they've received notice from my employer that the my employer has stopped the payments, they will then reimburse all the extra money i've paid in the interim (but again this may take up to 48 days). I've worked out that it will probably be january before i get my money back and I will have had over £350 taken out of my wages. Apparently I can't tell my employer to stop the payments as the stop order must come from the SLC. I know it's not a massive amount (although quite a lot to me) but it's the principle. Surely it's unlawful to take money out of someone's wages without their consent. I don't owe them this money yet they're taking it anyway, and although they promise I'll get it back, they won't pay me interest on it- even though I've paid interest to them for the past 5 yrs! Somebody please help- is there a letter I can send at least to claim interest on the money they take w/o my consent? Or a way I can stop my employer from paying the SLC?
