Broken appliance
mnrbig replied to mnrbig's topic in Residential and Commercial lettings/Freehold issues
No inventory was taken. The thing was in the house when we moved in and we have lived there for 4 years. -
Hi peeps Could someone give me some advice. I rent a house that came with integrated appliances and a fridge/freezer. The fridge /freezer has broken, but the letting agent says that they are not responsible for it as it is not in the letting agreement. Is he right? What options do I have. I am of the opinion that as it came with the house, they would be responsible for the repair/replacement. Thanks

I recently bought something in South Africa. The transaction was declined, but the money was taken from my account 3 times. Barclaycard want me to fill in a fraud claim, but it was not fraud it was a system glitch. How do I go about getting a refund?

Hi I wonder if anyone can give me some pointers as to this situation. I have been paying my electricity via SO. SSE screwed up my address so I have not received a bill from them. I have now realised that my SO amount was to little and have a electricity bill of £350. I still have not received a bill, but don't know were I stand. Can they demand I pay all of it at once?

This thread reminds me of that classic pink floyd hit. "is there anybody out there"

Hi All Can someone help me with a query. It is my understanding that the changes in law now require creditors to attempt all possible means to reach a settlement with regards to debt before they can issue a default. In the old days they would default first then make arrangements. Is this the case? can someone guide me in the direction please.

Is it my imagination or has BT changed the billing cycle so as they now get the monthly rental in advance or has it always been like that? If it always has been like that, why the billing change?

NDR as far as I am aware is the inhouse collection agency for the littelwoods group of companies.

Hi I have received a notice of intent to issue a statutory demand. The DCA has not provided me with a CCA (Because there is none) Normally I wouldn't worry, but I have read on this forum that due to the Rankin case, I cannot rely on there not being a CCA for a set aside to be granted:cry:. What else can be done? Thanks in advance.

If that is what the court determines you can afford, then they have no choice.
-
On what grounds? It is my understanding that you would need to have not been aware of the court action and also that if you had defended, you would have had reasonable chance of wining. The second point is a no brainer, but i think the sticking point is the first one.Am I misinformed?

They are not allowed to split the debt and claim only their fees. There is quite alot about this on the forum. I am of the opinion **DISCLAIMER WARNING** I could be wrong, but if you paid the £200 to the court, the CCJ would be satisfied therefore he cannot claim again as the default is satisfied BC would not be able to go to court for the rest even though his POC may say so. BC won by default so I think the judge never even looked at the POC.

I've been away for a week to the Coast. What amazes me is the proliferation of private car parks that clamp if you don't have a valid ticket or overstay. Does anyone know what would happen if I removed the clamp from my vehicle as I think £150 release fee is high?

Made redundant, but now they've replaced me
mnrbig replied to Moonrat's topic in Employment and minimum wage problems
I know this doesn't help, but they proberbly pay the new person less money. I am of the opinion that redundancies occur so that the company can get rid of high salaried staff and employ cheaper people. -
Settled Debt Coming Back To haunt PLEASE HELP
mnrbig replied to snidershappy's topic in General Debt Issues
The way I see it, if the debt is made up of charges irrespective if they were paid or not, if they go to court you counterclaim for the charges which will be ofset against the alleged debt, thus cancelling out what is owed. Hey, I could be wrong. -
Settled Debt Coming Back To haunt PLEASE HELP
mnrbig replied to snidershappy's topic in General Debt Issues
Did she get this in writing? I would tell the DCA it is made up of unlawfull charges and put in a claim for them. -
I think they will end up buying even more bad debt and chasing even more people for payment. That is if they can borrow the money to buy the debt in the first place.
