  1. Well done Robbie! I sent the data protection form back on 10th October with the cheque for £10 and they are dragging their heels getting the information relating to my charges back to me. I phoned them for an update and was told that they had 40 days to send me the information. If they think that I am going to back down through lack of patience then they are sorely mistaken!!
  2. I have finally sent off the data protection form that A&L sent me, along with the £10 requested.. I have read through and printed off all the steps and am ready for action!!
  3. To be honest I cam up with this sum as I have obviously not kept the account in a very good order in the first place, howeever as a result of viewing this site I have binned the original letter and asked my bank to send me a complete list of charges levied against my account since I first opened it. I think I need to start there rather than just the last 9 months. Should I be asking for the whole amount back then?
  4. Hello! I am new to this site and have sought it out because I am intending to make a claim against my bank for the charges they have levied against me. I have counted up back to December 2005 and they have taken £1,019 from me. Now considering my take home wage for that period was only £5,220 and Child Tax Credit payments and Child Benefit paid was £4,446 - giving me a total income of £9,666, this means they took 10.5% of my income away from me in charges. One extreme example is that I went 36p overdrawn. I didn't immediately realise this and as I had no authorised overdraft they bounced a direct debit, charging me £34 for the pleasure. They then charged me £25 for being overdrawn. £59 in charges for slipping into the red by 34p is extremely excessive. I am now struggling to feed my family as I have no money in the bank. I have just drafted a letter asking for £600 of the fees to be reimbursed as per the template letter on the This Is Money site. Wish me luck!
