Hi Lee - I am no longer a third party contact as I have explained she has stopped my access to the online account and I am now unable to speak to anyone by phone. My main question is do the figures that I am given on the vodaphone app include VAT? I understand that the bill has VAT added on to it but I am being told that my figure on my app is inclusive of VAT and she is telling me that it is not and that I am liable for extra VAT. If my figure is inclusive of VAT then I am paying the VAT figure twice!! She is still not answering my calls and texts so haven't sent the money as yet.

Now she is not answering my calls or texts - all because I have queried this money - I have told her that I will pay the extra on the bill this month and then transfer it once the bill has been paid - just a bit worried about not passing a credit check to take on the phones. My husband is so annoyed he is on about sending her the phones back and telling her to go forth.. Would be good if Lee could contact me n then I can discuss my options with him. Thanks all.

Nagasis I am feeling what you are saying - just wonder if its worth the hassle of an argument but at the same time feel like I am being ripped off.

I know that I don't have any legal rights and I am going to look into getting our phones transferred into our names as I am paying way more than I should be - I have asked her to see the bill and for access to the online account which was agreed originally and then now she has disabled my access - I was also able to speak to someone over the phone with a password but she has stopped this aswell now. I am not confused about line rental/calls its just the VAT situation. I have told her that Vodaphone told me the app was correct and she has said that the extra VAT is because the price plans have gone over - our amount over is about £40 and she says that my share of the extra VAT is £20 - this clearly is not right. I have queried this with her every month and as I said earlier I feel obliged to pay the extra VAT as she did me a favour getting me the phones.

I have asked her for the bill and she just fobs me off or ignores my texts/calls. She has told me the reason there is extra VAT is due to the number of phones on the account and then she say that its when anyone goes over on their price plan. My husband has not gone over and his bill is £3.89 more than his price plan - my daughter and I have been abroad so used Euro Traveller - the extra VAT this month is £44.00. Clearly there is something she doesn't want me to see!!!

Hi all - just after a bit of advice to be honest. I am on Vodaphone - I have three phones on a pay monthly contract - the account is in my sisters name and she has 4 phones on her contract. I use the vodaphone app on the iphone to get my monthly bill - I then transfer the money to my sisters account - over the last few months she has contacted me and told me that she is being charged VAT @ 20% on the whole account. I have contacted vodaphone and they have told me that the app gives me the bill for my phone in full and that there should be no more VAT to pay by me. She keeps refusing permission for me to see the online account and I feel obliged to pay the extra VAT that she is telling me about. I am totally confused and can feel a fall out coming on over this - its extra money every month. Advice please.........

So what you are all saying is just to ignore the letters, they have told me that they have removed my number from my/their records but then state that they will be contacting me by phone if I stop contacting them by letter. Will they ever stop contacting me? I appreciate that I took out the debt but I genuinely forgot that it even existed and was gob smacked that they would even bother me about a loan taken out 18 years ago.

In this letter it states section 6 Transfer of rights and duties of agreement specifically 6.1 we have the right to assign or transfer all or any rights and duties under this agreement to any person without your consent, I take it that they mean the original agreement! It states that the loan account owner is not slc but finance for higher education and that they have transferred the servicing rights. In October 2008 FFHE transferred the rights to Thesis who have passed to Link, they say they are acting on behalf of them and not SLC? They say they are not planning on going to court at this time though. They cannot supply documentation but said I can get it from the court. They say that enforcement is not the same as recovering the loan! What shall I do next?

Have had a letter now though from the complaints department and they are still insisting that they have the right to chase the debt. Very worried now!!!

Ok so further update - Link have sent me a letter saying they have investigated and apparantly they are well within their rights to chase this debt - there was a CCJ I have checked with the court and they have told me that because of it being a student loan it might be wise for me to seek legal advice - clearly I am not in a position where I can afford to do this. I am so confused and am almost at the point when I start a payment plan with them as I am worried that I am liable for this debt. Please help...

Update, my letter was posted over three weeks ago - I haven't had a phone call from my new bestie Hayley for over a fortnight and I have had no response from them - hoping that it did the trick and they are leaving me alone - unless they are preparing court papers!!

Hayley (clearly she is my new best friend as she refers to me by my first name) leaves me a daily message asking me to call her - I don't obviously - I answer if I am home as I have a number of family members that have a private number and just say I am not prepared to discuss anything with you via the phone, please contact me in writing.

So I have sent link a letter and requested on the phone and in writing that they do not contact me by phone - and guess what they continue to harrass me with a phone call everyday!! They have said that they have not recieved it so therefore they have the right to keep calling me to discuss my debt - I am so annoyed what is wrong with these people - always the same woman and I tell her the same everytime.

They have sent me some paperwork apparently from the student loans company - some kind of statement its got all their info on the top. I know I have paid anything especially in the last six years. To be honest it was all so long ago I wouldn't even know where to start - there is nothing from the court re the CCJ though.

Hi all - well I have had some paperwork from Link today - it says that a CCJ was secured at my local court in October 1999 - this is odd as I was sure that it was Northampton but hey - with a claim number and a balance of £1410.71 - then have issued me with some statements from SLC showing that I have made a number of payments bringing the balance to £1186.32 - well I have never made a payment so I really surprised about this. According to the statements I made payments of between £20 and £60 between August of 1999 and then July of 2000 - yeah right and then further payments in November 2000 - then I made payment of £1.44 in July of 2004 - then again in Sept and Oct - then another payment in July 2005. I know that I have never made any kind of payment so am confused about this. I haven't had anymore phone calls yet so what should I do next.

OP I too am being chased by Link Financial in exactly the same circumstances as your partner - I have only had phone calls from them and no letters to date - they called me yesterday to tell me that as the CCJ had been taken out on the debt that Statute Barring did not apply - I was extremely worried as you have been - thankfully I have had some advice on this forum to settle my mind at rest. I am going to wait for the paperwork (they have already sent it once apparantly) and then have a look back through your threads to type them a lovely letter. If you have a copy of the one that you have sent them I would be grateful for a look - lets hope that we both get it sorted x
