  1. Hi, I'm ready to send off my prelim ltr to Capital One but i'm not sure where to send it? I got a letter back from a Katherine Blunt Capital One Bank Legal Department 4th Floor Loxley House Station Street Nottingham NG2 3HX But i read somewhere that katherine blunt is only to be used for Data Protection requests and that a Rob Udy Executive Response ERC Dept PO Box 5283 Nottingham NG2 3HX should be used for all other letters? This still ok as the thread was from March time!
  2. Just as i was getting my letter ready to send off to Abbey, the postman arrived with a bundle of statements - problem is, i've only got statements from October 2004 through to August 2006 Now, Abbey sent me back my cheque (as in the letter a few replys up) and told me that my statements would be coming to me free of charge - ok...well....some have arrived...- but i've read on here that someone managed to get all their statements by requesting them via the online banking website but of course you'd have to pay up to a £10 fee Should i try and get the rest of my statements via the online banking way or send Abbey another letter telling them they have xxx amount of days to send the rest of my statements etc - Its just that i thought that it might be easier to get them the 'sneaky' way by requesting them online and Abbey dosent know what its for, rather then encouraging Abbey to stall with the rest of my statements as they know what path i'm heading down? Anyones opinon is greatly appreciated
  3. Thanks Glenn, Thats opened my eyes up a bit - its good to get another persons opinon on it! I think i'll take your advice and send them another letter acknowledging that i've recieved their letter and to make it crystal clear that the letter they recieved from me WAS a S.A.R (i copied and adjusted the one out of the libary from here) and not a general 'please can i have some statements' - and make it very clear that they're running out of time to give me what i asked for in the first place
  4. Received my first letter from Abbey today, with my cheque attached to it that i had sent with my first letter to Abbey asking for my S.A.R..... Dear Miss Martin Thanks for your letter dated 15th August 2006 which we received on 18th August 2006, requesting information on your account. All the transactional information you have requested is available on our systems and will be forwarded to you, free of charge, under separate cover. I therefore return your £10.00 cheque fee. You have also asked for details of any "manual interventions" that there may have been on your account. Although i am not entirely clear as to what information it is you require, i am taking "manual intervention" to be any action taken with regard to your account other than an automatic or computer-driven action. You will appreciate that, first of all, not all manual interventions on your account may be recorded. For example, if a member of staff looks at a paper document relating to your account, a record of that activity will not always be made. Moreover, an "intervention" may be carried out by any one of a large number of departments in Abbey. There is no central record of such interventions because this is not the kind of information that we usually need nor, more importantly, information that a customer would normally request. I regret therefore that i am unable to supply detailed information of any manual intervention. I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have any questions please call us on the above number. Yours sincerely Pam Speed Business Manager Uh huuuuh all i can say is liars - they signed for it on the 16th Well....lets see if my statements roll up soon, not holding my breath tho

I have asked for this information to be provided to me and as soon as i recieve it i will forward this on to you. In the meantime, if you require any further information then please do not hesitate to contact me in writing at the following address; Capital One Bank, Legal Department, 4th Floor, Loxley House, Station Street, Nottingham, NG2 3HX Yours sincerely Miss Katherine Blunt Legal Department Will still be keeping to my timetable tho
  6. Little update: - S.A.R sent on 15th - Abbey received on the 16th - 40 days are ticking.... Also set up a paracute account with Halifax (i know all banks are the same but if i could i'd have all my money under the mattress! lol) Heard nothing at all yet
  7. Thanks for your help - it was in 2004/2005 so definately within the 6 year timeframe Finally sent off the S.A.R request to Capital One today - so now it begins!
  8. Well, finally managed to get the letters sent off today, 1st class recorded.....so now it begins!!
  9. Great - i've still got some of my statements and account number so i think i'll get in touch with them ;-)
  10. I had a credit card with Capital One in which i encountered a number of charges which did nothing but help rocket up the total amount - i managed to get it paid off, close my account with them, cut up my card and vowed to never own another credit card. Now, if i've closed my account and i'm no longer with them.....can i still claim the charges back? Any help is much appreciated!
  11. Thanks for the speedy reply Lula! Who would i make the cheque payable to? And i've been good and read a couple of the other threads so will make sure that i update only in mine so not to swamp the forum!
  12. Hi all, just joined up today after this site was recommended to me - and i'm so glad i did! After reading some of the threads on the forum i'm determined to get back whats owed - cant believe i've been so naive in thinking banks can do this Just written my S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) request but one question tho - should i send it to: Data Protection Manager Data Protection Team Regulatory Compliance Abbey House 201 Graftons Gate East Milton Keynes MK9 1AN OR send it to the address that comes up when you search for abbey on this link Information Commissioners - Data Protection Public Register as stated in the SAR request letter template on the forum? Also (know i'm sounding a bit dumb but i want to make sure that i get everything right as new to this) i'm going to send the £10 as a cheque - but who would i make it out to? Sorry for all the questions!
