  1. Hi, Not sure if I has posted this in the right section, apologises if not. I really need some advice as I am at my wit's end and I have no idea what to do next (Apologises in advance it's a long one). I have a dorothy perkins card which I had a balance of £388 on, paid £300 off on the 27/10 via the dp website as I always do with no problems (money came out of the account on the 28th). I tired to use the card on the 5/11 in a store and it came up as declined which I though was odd, rang their cust serv department after leaving the shop and they said my account did not exist, said I would ring them back as I didn't have all my paperwork to hand. Finally managed to ring them back on the 7/11 and told that they where updating the systems and that my card would work in a few days. Anyway I tired to use it on the 11/11 to place on online order and it came up as declined again, rang their customer serv team yet again only to be told they where still updating and that it should work after monday. I was away for a few days so didn't get chance to check until the 17/11 and suprise suprise my card still does not work, also during this period I have been unable to log into my online account. Tried to ring cust serv but was in a queue for ages so had to leave it, tired again on the 18/11 again stuck in a queue forever. Looked online and got some different phone numbers to ring, tired them and they where all the same, saying your call would be answered within 10 mins but was still on hold 30-40 mins later!! Anyway finally managed to get hold of someone today only to be told that they are still updating the systems (?) and that it would work from monday. The guy I spoke to assured me that I any fees for late payment (as I have not had a online statement this month with not been able to log in) would be refunded. At this point I was getting worried and worked myself up into quite a state at work, as nobody could tell me what was going on. So I decided to leave it until I got home and draft a letter to send to them. I got home tonight to a letter from santander cards saying there had been a issue with my Burton Card, which has worried me even more as I took the card out with dorothy perkins .All it states is that due to a systems error I will not be able to use my current card and they will send me a new one out (new number etc)plus they will credit £20 as a goodwill gesture to my account. There was a new account no on the so I rang the cust serv no on the bottom as I wanted to know what the hell was going on, as I have never had a burton card. Before I spoke to someone I went through the self serv menu and I was even more shocked to hear the balance of my card was £368 (they have credited the £20 goodwill gesture) the guy I spoke to was so unhelpful, like most of the other people I have spoke to in ther cust serv's department. The payment I made on the 27/10 for which i have a ref number for was rejected on the 19/11? At that point I had just had enough with them, they couldn't tell me why they had rejected it I just left it at that, again I had worked myself up into a state. Once I had calmed down I rang my bank to check what the guy had said at santander cards and the bank said the payment had gone through ok. If this is the case where the hell is my £300!!! I am about to start and put together a letter to send to Santander Cards UK to find out what the hell is going on as there customer services department is useless .I have all the details of times I have called etc (no names though) what I was told and obviously the letter they have sent me today, I just have no idea where to start with it as so much has happened, so any help it much appreciated. 2. Hi, I am after a bit of advice as none of my internet searches have come up with anything. Sorry it's a bit long winded I have had about 4 hours sleep and am very very annoyed right now. Last night our neighbours got involved in a arguement with a couple down the street, they where back and forth from each others houses it all died down at about 2am but it started up again at 6am with them yelling at each other and again them going back and forth from each others houses. It was then I noticed that our wing mirror casing was hanging off, due to the disturbance my partner kept checking on the car last night, the last time being about midnight and all was fine. The police where on the street dealing with the disturbance so we didn't go out straight away, on closer inspection of the car at about 6:30am the wing mirror glass has been smashed and the wing mirror casing is damaged although it goes back on, it will not stay on as all the clips are broken. The car is parked half on the kerb (as it always is due to lack of space at the top end of the street) and the damage is on the side with the footpath, so it has been a pedestrain that has done it. Our next door neighbour has said it was the women in the disbute with them that has done it as she came barging past our car, but I'm not convinced on that due to the damage. Her partner on the other hand (who started all the arguing) has a cut hand, so due to the smashed glass we think it's him thats taken his frustration out on our car. We have however no actual proof of who has done it, we reported it to the police who where up on the street but I know all we will get is a ref no and letter. Obviously we are know going to be left with a bill on replacing the wing mirror (wing mirror will cost approx £100 on it's own as it electric and heated), we haven't reported it to the insurance company yet as it's not worth claiming it on our insurance due to the excess and the fact we would lose our no claims bonus (?) I know we don't have proof but is there anything we can do? I am just so angry as we're going to be left with a bill of approx £150+ for something we didn't even do! Michelle
  3. We purchased a Prestige PRT325FFCS Fridge freezer off the comet website last March. In the November of last year we had to call out an engineer as it wouldn't stay at the correct temperature, he moved the sensor (Common problem and was done under warrantly) and all was well until approx 6 weeks ago. On the 14th October the fridge freezer stopped working completly, so we called out an engineer who came out on the 22nd Oct by this point we had lost approx £80 worth of food. As our 12 month warrantly had now ended and we didn't take an extended warranty (Don't see why I should have to)so it cost us £30 .He took a look at it and said it would need a 48 hour defrost, told him we had already done that but insisted that we do it again and that if it still wasn't working then he would need to replace the circuit board and sensor at a cost of approx £150. We decided to humour them and defrosted it again, and the fault still occured. After doing a bit of digging on the internet I found that a lot of people have had similar problems with Prestige Fridge freezers. So we then sent a letter to Comet (using a template of a letter off here) stating that these goods where clearing not fit for purpose (broken after 18 months) and that we want it repaired or replaced free of charge. Comet contacted us the day after they received the letter and another engineer was arranged to come out FOC on the 14th Nov to have a look at the F/Freezer when it was off. He said that he would order the parts and that there would be no charge to us. We recieved a call later on the day from the engineer to say he would be back out the following saturday to repair it. Anyway come lunchtime on the 21st Nov no one had turned up or even called. So we called Comet only for them to tell us that there was no one booked to come out to us that day and that the parts weren't even in yet! Since then we have been chasing them every single day for a date for when the parts will be in, but we keep getting told that they are on order and have been chased. How can you not know when parts are going to be in, surely you would request an estimated delivery date when you placed the order? Anyway I know am unsure what to do next, can I demand a replacement? As in my view 2 weeks is an adequate amount of time to get parts in and the fact they can't even give us a rough date when the parts will be in is not good enough, for all I know it could be another 2 weeks before they come in or they could turn up on Monday. It's really starting to stress me out as we're in december next week and I can't start buying any food for christmas plus its costing us a small fortune having to buy fresh meat etc each day because we can't store it. Thanks for your help Michelle
  4. I am needing a bit of advice, pleas ebear with me it's getting to be a bit of a long winded saga! We ordered two internal doors for collection from b&q back on the 26th March where we where stated 2 weeks delivery to the store and the goods were paid for in full (total of £71) and that someone would call us when they had arrived, however this was not out our local store as they had told us to go to the big b&q warehouse in bury. Anyway 2 weeks passed and no one had called, so we rang to see where they where the person who we spoke to was less than helpful stating that they didn't know and they would get someone to ring us back the next morning, low and behold we never got that call so we chased again and got the same answer that no one knew where they were and they said again someone would check the warehouse and call us back which never happended. Getting a bit annoyed my bf drove down to the store and spoke directly to the manager, who said that really the leadtime on getting doors into the stores was actually 4 weeks.Obviously less then impressed with this as we had been quoted 2 weeks the manager agreed to deliver the doors to us for free when they came in, and that he would look into where the doors where and get someone to call us. Anyway you guessed it no one rang, so a week ago we contacted them again and again no one has been able to give us a straight answer, again we where told they would call back but no one did. So today over 4 weeks on we contact them again and again no one knows where they are! The guy we spoke to today said he would call us back tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breathe! Where do we stand with this? The fact that the doors have been paid for is annoying me even more! Any advice is much appreciated Michelle
  5. Hi All, Just an update and another twist to the tale. When I handed my resignation in last year I was told that I would get paid in december which I did and that I would recieve the company bonus in Jan 08, both of which I have the confirmation that I would be paid both in witing. Now based on the 2 years i was with the company the bonus has always been paid on the 28th Jan, which I have yet to recieve. I got in contact with HR who said I would need to contact my old line manager to sort it out, problem is I have emailed him a couple of times and have left voicemails for him and I have yet to receive a response. My bf thinks that due to my grievence letter that my old manager has been told not to speak to me. So I am at a total lose as to what to do next, I had just got myself calmed down and now this. Any advice is much welcomed!
  6. thanks for your replys, the payment was actually made in the store itself via chip and pin machine.
  7. Hi, Not sure if this is the right section to post in. Need some advice , my bf has checked his bank account today only to see a payment he made by debit card on the 1st Dec 07, has only just come out of bank account today!! Nearly 2 months on from the initial purchase, it wasn't for a huge amount thankfully but it has put him overdrawn on his account and will no doubt now get charged for this. Do we have any rights to complain over this? Michelle
  8. Hi, Thought I better update everyone on the the situation, I sent a grievence letter to my old employers before Xmas, to which I recieved a reply for yesterday.Basically they had an answer for everything I raised, which I expected, and my old manager has deined what was said in the 1:1 when he gave me the choice to stay or resign. He's stated that it was just to inform me that disapliny (Spelling?) action would now be taken against me, as I have no proof but my own word on what happened in the 1:1 its his word against mine. I am now after advice as to my next course of action, I really want the company to pay for all the stress they have caused me leading up to the events of my resignation and what I have gone through since, but at the same time I have just (finally) got my self a new job which I started last friday, which I am really enjoying and I don't want to jepodise this as the agency who got my the position and my employer do not know of the situation with my previous employer. I would appreciate any advice from anyone who has been through a similar experience Michelle
  9. Thanks for all your replys, getting a little confused though as someone has stated not to put in a grievence while someone else has said to put one in with the company?!!?!?! Have been in touch with 2 solicitors/lawyer firms today, just waiting to hear back off them both, also just going through home insurance documents to see if I would be covered. Cheers Michelle
  10. Thanks, I have put a letter together to send to the company tomorrow, in the mean time I'm going to get some legal advice tomorrow if I can find a company that offers a free consultation as money is very tight at the moment. Thanks for all your Help Michelle
  11. I did try to retract my resignation, but the company would not let me. What else can I ask the company to do? Sorry about asking all the questions, still trying ot get my head around the whole situtation at the moment.
  12. All, Thanks for your replys. Right I have spent the weekend writing everything down from my meeting last week. Do I need to submit a grievence against the company before I can proceed with possible legal advice? Cheers Michelle
  13. Hi thanks for your reply, stupidly I did sign a letter and as you can imagine at thetime I was not thinking clearly at all having had all this information just dumped on me and being expected to make decision there and then. They offered me resignation as an option so I could walk out with a clean reference and my benefits .
  14. I really need some urgent advice, Have had the day from hell today. Basically my manager took me off today for a chat at about 4:15pm only to tell me that there had been a compliant put in against me from out client, no details as to what which is the first time I had knew about any sort of issues. Basically it has been passed up to my account managers manager, who has gathered the evidence against me ready to hold a displinary hearing and then dimiss me on gross misconduct! Obviously this has shaken me completly today, as I never knew anything was wrong, my manager was made aware of this over 10 days ago ad has only just told me. I have been with the company over 2 years have had 2 days off sick in that time and have an excellent record, so this has come and knocked me for six. Basically after I had calmed down I was given 2 choices to stay on and face the hearing and certain dismisal or resign there and then, I was given about 15 minutes to decide, and obviously I wasn't in any state of mind to be making a huge decsion like that. Thinking on my future and employment record I chose to resign. On getting home at about 7pm, after talking with my partner, looking at my contract and various websites. I am wondering if I have grounds for unfair dismisal I found the following quote on one site : Normally, if you resign, you bring the employment contract to end and so you have not been dismissed. However, there are circumstances where, although you have resigned, you will still be treated as being dismissed. This could be:- if you resigned under pressure from your employer Would this be true given that I only had a short amount of time to make a life changing decsion, also should they have informed me of the complaint before being brought in for an informal chat, and details of what i am accused of? Cheers Michelle
  15. No they didn't and like I said the first I knew of them trying to take the payment again on the 17th , was a letter that arrived on the 17th ( dated 10th July)!!
