  1. Thanks! Do you think it is a bad sign that they haven't replied to me? Do you think it could have anything to do with stopping the claim process halfway through last year?
  2. Quick question... it says to allow 14 days on the letter - should that be a straight two weeks, or 14 working days? If its a straight two weeks then they have not replied yet and should i just send the second letter out tomorrow?
  3. Well done!! From skimming this forum now it seems that the banks are paying out much faster than a year ago!
  4. Cheers thank you! I have the letters and spredsheet saved so have just updated with my new address and the date, and also added on a cheeky £38 they charged me the other week when my phonebill came out and id forgotton about it... my first bank charge since 2001 grrr, and since when did they think it was ok to put them up to nearly £40?!?! The charge was more than my entire phone bill! Grrr! mini rant over, and i'll keep you guys posted!
  5. Last summer i decided to calim back my bank charges that totaled £900 or so pounds. I sent the first two letters but then chickened out as i was scared my account would get closed. I was just after some advice really, will it affect my chances of getting my money back if i have already sent the first to letters to the bank last year? Should i start again from the first letter? (I think i should both ebcuase i stopped the claim alf way through, and i have moved house since so the addresses would be different) Thirdly, can anyone tell me where to find the correct address to send the letters off to NatWest? Also i have included charges from 7 years ago will this work out ok? Thanks guys!
  6. Hey everyone I started the process of claiming in September, sent my stage one and stage two letters. I didn't put the claim in with the courts as soon as i recieved the second knock back letter, is it too late to file the claim or should i jsut go ahead as i ahve warned the bank already etc? Also, in the middle of all this I have moved house (i'm a student lol) and the address on my account is now different, but the details and branch are still the same, so is it ok to claim from a different address but with the same account details? (i would have thought it was as the bank has all my updated detaisl etc) Need the advice of you experts!

  8. Thanks for the advice and good wishes people! I was being blind and i have now found the step by step instructions, i've done the first letter telling natwest how much i am claiming back and made a spreadsheet listing the dates and amounts my claim is made up of. I have a question though.... does the 14 days mean just stright 14 days, or is it 14 working days? I'm going to get jotting the projected dates in my diary so i know where im at!
  9. I'm takin hte first steps of claiming. Luckily for me i had the bank statements i needed already, and have just totaled up the charges to a grand total of £904.39!!! I can't wait to get things moving. I may be being a little slow but i keep seeing there is a step by step process, but i cant find it! i have been reading the FAQs but im just still a little confused by exactly what i need to do first. Do i need to make table of the charges im claiming for and send them with a letter? If anyone can point me in the right direction i should then be able to fgure things out!
  10. Thanks - that was exactly what i needed to know! (what do account closures tend to relate to then?)
  11. Nope - because its a student account, this overdraft is free for me while i'm at uni and i don't need to start paying it back for two years yet, its not like a 'normal' overdraft, and if they remove the overdraft then i will have to find hundreds of pounds to pay the debt off, when i only have my student loan and a part time job - its just not feasable!
  12. Annie100 - I was not being rude, i was just trying to work out the circumstances surrounding the closure of his accounts - if you read my first post, what i'm trying to do is work out the likelyhood of the bank closing my account if i take action! My problem is, that if my account is closed from under me, even with the money i claim back i'll be asked to pay back a lot more money than i can afford, and as i'm at uni it could proove a problem - which is why i need to work out the likelyhood of this happening, as if it is high then claiming back my charges won't really benifit me at all. Jamesbond sorry if you also thought this and thanks for sharing your experience, hope you get it all sorted. Lipscombe - thanks for your advice, glad you and your son had a good outcome!
  13. Hi all, I have put this post up in the NATWEST forum, but dont think many of you will see it: http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/natwest-bank/22307-natwest-closing-accounts.html Take a look, advice would be thankfully recieved!
  14. From reading posts in this forum though, your accounts were not closed as a direct result of taking legal action were they?
  15. What is the likelyhood of this if i was to make a claim? I have a student account and a £1400 overdraft, if they were to close this and make me repay this immeadiatley, even with the £900 i am entitled to claim back i would be worse of financially. I do not have a good enough credit score to open a new student account so could not simply transfer the overdraft. Do you think its worth the risk? Advice needed!
