  1. Okeydokey, I'll get me calulator out right now then! Thankyou for the speedy replies!
  2. angela1606, So going back and adding in the new charges won't stand against me as the amount will differ from my original prelim letter?
  3. Hi there, This is kind of what I would also like to know, about adding further charges to the existing ones. I have sent my prelim off on the 4th of August (I got a standard 'no refund due' letter back on the 12th) and await the deadline (18th of August) so I can send off the LBA. I have since been able to calculate some more charges from some 'missing' statements but they go back to May 2005 and as far back as late 2000... Am I able to include these 'new' charges onto the spreadsheet and thus claim for these as part of the total or would I need to put in a seperate claim? All help warmly welcomed! KJB
  4. Thanks for the info and thanks for the welcome too, I think this site will be my new home for quite a while! Now all I have to do is hang on for the 18th of August to get my LBA out to HSBC, I have it already drafted and ready to roll... Oh, just to let people know, my wife and I sent out 3 seperate letters to various addresses: David Walker HSBC Customer Support Customer Services Centre Edinburgh 11-12 Lochside Place, Edinburgh Park Edinburgh EH12 9HA. The Manager Service Quality Team HSBC Bank plc Arlington Business Centre Millshaw Park Lane Leeds LS11 0PP Mr M Bowden Customer Service Manager HSBC Bank plc Customer Credit Services Sheffield S1 2US The one in BOLD below is the one I had my responses from: HSBC Bank Plc Customer Credit Services PO Box 1321 Sheffield S1 2US So it might be worth giving it a go! All the best, Mr B
  5. rdm2006, Thanks for your reply! That's kinda what I was thinking and I know it's really the best thing to do, I was trying not to jump the gun as these clowns have really irked me (the polite word I'll use for what they have done to me over the years) and now I want payback! Thankyou once again, Mr B
  6. Hi to all, I am relatively new to this site and have been reading with great interest all the various battles with banks etc and how to get these unfair charges back! Good luck to everybody and well done to all those who have been successful so far! So my story with HSBC begins and I must say I am hopeful, boosted by all the encouragement from users here who have had the same misfortune as I to be charged unfairly. Luckily I had all my statements so I filled out the spreadsheet and sent of my letter requesting all charges refunded, along with my wife. I posted out the prelimianary letter on the 5th August, I got a very standard letter back from them on the 10th saying 'we're looking into it'. Ok... Then on the 12th of August I received a letter from Mr David L Johnson of HSBC saying I wasn't entitled to any kind of refund and an explantion that all cheque books, cards etc were all issued free and that charges were all valid and still stand. So... my next step is to send the LBA but I have a question and I really hope someone can help here. I received their letter within the 14 day deadline saying no refund is due, do I still have to hang fire until the 14 days are up to send the second letter to them? I have read the FAQs and it seems to be the case, I was just wondering, seeing as I had heard already, if I could progress to the next stage yet? Oh, and my wife, who sent her prelim out at the same time as me, hasn't heard a peep from HSBC, I wonder if it is because my claim (£2,219.20) is smaller then hers (£3827.44)...? A real mystery eh? Any help greatly appreciated and received with thanks. I'll keep you posted as to the progress of our HSBC fight and once again good luck to all in the middle of theirs and well done to those who have been successful! Mr B
  7. Oh yes, I am fully aware they are the bad guys and mustn't be trusted, my past experience with all of them is testament to that, as I am sure everyone else has found out too, otherwise we wouldn't all be here! KJB
  8. Hi Glenn, Cheers for the reply. I have all my HSBC statements going back 6 years and I am preparing SAR's for the rest to be posted out today requesting comrehensive lists of all charges etc. The thing with MBNA is the fact the £10 fee is seemingly ignored and they wanted £2.50 per statement. However, and a big thanks to Surreyscouse for this, I have emailed [email protected] requesting my statements and bingo, in the last minute as I'm typing this to you he has replied saying he will arrange for them all to be sent out FOC! Hurrah! Viddy! KJB
  9. Surreyscouse, you're a star! Ta for the info, I'll get onto the chap at MBNA right away. They ain't getting away with this £2.50 lark! Viddy well, KJB
  10. Greetings to all, I joined up just recently and have been pouring over this amazing site like mad and realising just how much these financial institutions have ripped me (and you!) off over the years, the swines! I think I'm gonna like it on here... So a big hello to all! Okeydokey, to business: I have made enquiries to MBNA regarding my previous statements and how to obtain them via the Data Protection Act. They tell me the last 6 months worth are free and are still on their system so I can have them without delay... But things get decidedly murkier and take on a sinister hue when requesting the previous 17 months' batch... If I want them it's gonna cost me £42.50 as they clock in at £2.50 each. I have since contacted MBNA about this and they say that is in fact correct, see the terms and conditions blah blah blah. 'What about the £10 maximum fee?' I ask and they say 'that covers information we haven't sent to you before, such as personal details but not statements, which we did send out. Some others charge £5 a statement'. That makes me feel so lucky to have you MBNA, I am glad you'll only charge me £2.50 instead of the other rip offs cashing in a fiver a time. Yippee. So idiot me for not keeping all my statements is basically what they are saying and lets have £42.50 from you sonny if you want us to furnish you with reprints of things we have already taken our time doing once already. So my question is this: Has anybody else had these kind of requests denied unless they cough up £2.50 per statement? I am also taking HSBC, Capital One and Morgan Stanley to task over charges too, I sent of my initial request for payment to HSBC on the 6th and had a letter back today saying they were 'looking into it', plus they very kindly gave me a leaflet detailing how to complain 'about this sort of thing'. Sadly I already have one of these leaflets which I picked up from my branch 30 seconds round the corner... Now I have two. Lucky me. Time is ticking dudes... Viddy well, KJB
