Contract makes no difference, they cant refuse a mac code based on contract (they have to chase you afterwards) It became compulsory (in most cases) to issue mac codes within 5 days as of February 14th (I think it was the 14th) they cant refuse you your mac code. But they may (and likely will) chase you afterwards as you are still under contract, but you could argue they were not providing a decent enough service etc... it works sometimes.

Knowing halifax I would guess for the "Maybe not" option. Cheers, that is pretty much what I figured I was going to have to do, I just wanted some confermation.

Advice would be great. Got half my statments, I should have had them dating back to MArch / April 2000 However I only got them dating back to 2004 (although i did get a letter saying they have been sent dating back to 2000) Advice on what to do, have they not complyed to the DPA letter, or should I give them the benifit of the doubt. They spent pretty much the whole 40 days to send the things out.

you are seeing in Live action the reasons the bank's continue to do it. I would guess a huge huge percentage of people who issue the DPA request, and then send a written letter bottle it before taking it to court. The banks know that most people just wouldnt have the mental energy to deal with it, and for the few that do its a small price to pay when you are making billions. However the more people who do beat the banks, the more publicity it will get, and then more people will consider it and in time (with any luck) the charges will be reduced / dropped.

Totally agree - I find OpenOffice excellent. Off topic but I have found attaching opentext document to email impossible. Any using Microsoft cannot decode it - or is it me? Dunno, I am a real open cource junkie, I use Firefox for web browsing, and Thunderbird for e-mail. I dont really do attatchments in e-mails, but anything I have ever attatched in thunderbird has worked.

Openoffice http://www.openoffice.org/ - is a completly free Offcie suite that will open Excel documents, and is (in my opinion) far better than the bloated Microsoft Office.

Join the club it does seem dodgy, but I would image as long as you didnt sign anything waiving your rights to complain about charges, then as long as you dont use the card, if they do get nasty you can just rip it up. I am no expert (only know whta I have read here) but thats the way I would deal with it. If once the dust settled Halifax had not got nasty and closed accounts etc..., you may have your charges back and a credit card with a nice limit.

Dont use the card. Thats the easist solution. Keep the card by all means, but dont use it until after things are sorted. that way I would imagine any chanrges would be minimar (I dont think they charge a yearly fee do they)

A friend of mind told me a while ago about the possibilitys of getting bank charges back (must have been when I was ranting and raving about my bank charging me). However when he told me I looked into it somewhat I found that on the whole the infomation out on the internet was somewhat jarbled, and to someone with limited legal knowledge it was hard to work out the best ways to do things. He then forwarded to me this forums address a couple of days ago, and I found the infomation all in one place in an easy to read format, that even I could understand. After doing a hell of a lot of reading, i have now decided to start a claim against my bank. I would also like to add, thanks to everyone who is involved with putting the advice and infomation on here, without this infomation being easy to read and find, a lot of people would simply do what I did at first and stop at the first hurdle.

Thats what I need, I have a number of things that I pay for online, without my debit card I would be lost.

i have often thought if I where to suffer from identity theft I may end up with a better credit rating. I have recently signed up for a NAtwest Step account, and I will let you know if I get it. I somehow doubt I will but I will let you know the result, because if I can get an account now, anyone can!

As it had "Bank Account Query" on the form I used that (via halifax-online.co.uk) I figured it would gte forwarded to the correct department, and as I was not asking for infomation via e-mail, it would be ok.

IMHO Vbulletin is the best out there (Its what i run on my sites) However, if PHPbb does what you want, then "If it aint broke....." I would image you would run into server load problems, before software issues.
