  1. Yep i calculated all the charges i am claiming back using the CAG spreadsheet pro forma that were provided. I've also kept a copy just in case for future reference. How did you get on mmace and what kind of preparation did you do beforehand?? Have you got any advice that may be of use to those of us who may be in the same position shortly??
  2. Hi guys/gals Just after a bit of reassurance i guess....I've followed all the procedures correctly up to point so far as i know. I have refused 3 offers of settlement (none of them came near halfway what i claimed for) and filed a court case late last year. Since then i have had a variety of letters from Cobbetts themselves. On 30th Nov 2006 they sent a letter stating their intent to defend all of this claim. Then on 14th December they forwarded me a copy of the defendant's defence claiming "no admissions are made as to what charges have been debited to the claimant's bank account." (Should i have done this somewhere?) Then we both filled in our allocation questionnaires which they sent me a copy of theirs on the 3rd of January this year. I then heard from the court on the 19th January 2007 saying a court date had been set for 27th April. Since then nothing!! Is there something i need to be doing in the meantime?? All of done since i filed with the courts is fill in the allocation questionnaire. I don't want to get this far and then blow it after all the hard work. Is it just a matter of sitting back and waiting now?? What chance it actually goes to court?? Has anyone else actually been to defend their claim in court?? Is there a likelihood Cobbetts will get back before then with settlement in full?? OH the worries!!! Can anyone put my mind at rest please?
  3. Thanks guys...I was leaningtowards taking it the whole way but the missus was putting the pressure on to accept!! i think three lemons appeared in her eyes when she thought £1800 for xmas...I want to it properly though and see it through....
  4. I'm looking for a bit of advice really. Back in August i began my claim against Natwest. When i received my 6 years worth of statements i listed all my charges which totalled £3,800. Since then i have followed the route outlined on this forum. A few weeks ago they offered me £639.00 as full and final settlement which i declined. I then presumed we would be off to the online small claims court. Yesterday, however, i received another letter offering me £1824.00. This letter also claims that "Much of the recent media coverage on bank charges has been fuelled by the Office of Fair trading investigation earlier this year, but that was limited to administration charges on credit card accounts and did not extend to include bank charges. Accordingly, the charges that have been applied to your account should stand." When i first claimed i thought the banks were legally entitled to £12 or so (to cover costs) of every charge they levy on your account, and that we were entitled to claim back the difference between that £12 and the £30 they had been illegally charging us.In this case i would have been entitled to roughly the £1800 they are offering now. Sooo....Should i take what they offer me and not be greedy or file a claim with moneyclaim online and go for it all....Am i entitled to it all or do i risk losing the lot??? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
  5. Thanks for the advice...Fingers crossed letter going off tomorrow..Judging by what other people have done it seems ok to send this preliminary letter to your local branch....
  6. Thanks for the advice...I understand now that ive been filling in the wrong form (simple instead of advanced) seeing as i'm at the prelim stage. I now know to enter the full charge and have read the faq's. So i charge the 8% at the stage when it goes to court and not before...How do i work out interest on the charges taken that i can claim for now (columns G to J) on the advanced excel form?
  7. Hi I'm after a bit of advice relating to how much to reclaim from my bank. Currently i am filling in the Excel Spreadsheet provided on this site for bank accounts (the simple version). However whilst completing it i suddenly thought i was doing it wrong - now i'm not sure. I have been listing all the charges in FULL that my bank have taken from my account in the last 6 years. However, is it not true that say if they charge you £30 for going over your overdraft a certain amount of that e.g. £14 is legally o.k. to charge to cover admin costs...In which case should i be entering on the reclaim form the £16 they illegally charged me or do i just list the full £30????? Also is there any type of bank charge we cannot reclaim??? HELP!!! Any advice would be appreciated on this matter! What have other people done? Richard
