  8. Hi - I used this site (and am extremely grateful) a couple of years ago, to successfully reclaim bank charges for bounced items on my current account. My husband is self-employed and lost his main client a few years back. We'd never been in debt before, and all of a sudden found ourselves in arrears with our mortgage company (GMAC) and having items bounce all over the place. It has taken a while to build the business back up and we are now doing better than ever before, but have a terrible credit record, and are still struggling to pay back the debts we incurred over the months we were in trouble. We received a letter from GMAC yesterday advising us that they would be refunding our £15 monthly fee for not having a direct debit set up for a couple of years, but I am unsure where we stand on the £50 per month arrears fee we are still being charged by them. We have an arrangement with them to pay back an amount towards the arrears each month, which we strictly adhere to, but the arrears fees and other charges now amount to almost £9,000!! I have written asking them for a full breakdown of all charges, but am I entitled to any of these back? I find the different fees and penalties so confusing. Many Thanks for your advise in advance.
  9. I know! It's a bit of a Catch22 situation, isn't it? Good luck!
  10. Hi - yes, Natwest have an account specifically for people in our position, which is a basic account but in the business's name, with a card and cheque book but no overdraft facility etc. Which we didn't want anyway! Hope that helps.
  11. Hello - I am looking for advice please. I have an existing claim against HFC, which is obviously on hold. The amount I have claimed for is £170. Since beginning action, HFC have added many charges onto the account, and the balance (which I have paid them now) totals now at £520. Is there any way I can change the amount, as I believe I can't begin a new claim against them, or can I cancel the claim, and start a new one Also, I have arrears now on my mortgage and am currently on a debt management plan. Does this count as financial hardship, and if so, how do I get them to pay the money back now. I have written asking them, but obviously they've said no. Sorry - my question mark key is broken! Thanks in advance.
  12. Thanks for the advice. I don't know if we'll get the Co-Op account, but worth a try.
  13. Hi - sorry, am not sure if I am posting in the correct forum, but can't find this question anywhere else. My husband and I have a really bad credit rating and we're currently on a payment plan with Payplan, and hold a basic current account, which is fine. We are starting our own business though, and need a business bank account. Does anyone have any idea how we can get one whith such poor credit? We don't need a loan - we just need an account in the limited business's name? Many thanks for your advice, in advance.
  14. Brilliant!! Congrats! That's encouraging! Would you mind hanging onto your paperwork, as if mine does nd up getting to court, I'll be in a real panic! Thanks. Let me know what your letter says.
  15. I received a letter from the local court yesterday morning, asking if the settlement has been achieved. I will phone tomorrow morning, and answer no, and that we want the case to go ahead, but other than this, haven't heard anything since May. HFC have never explained what the charge was for. Was your case a bank account, or a credit agreement? Ours was an HP agreement for a purchase with PC World almost four years ago. Good luck - and keep me updated please!
