  3. Unless it was a joint tenancy, your son should not take on the rent arrears just because his father had them. Arrange to see his housing officer and ask them to show your their policy, and housing act, that states that they are correct. Tell them unless they can show you that, you will not be paying the arrears.
  4. As far as I am aware, you can change the supplies only if you have 6 months or more left to run on your tenancy. Seeing that most properties are let on a 6 month tenancy, it may be difficult to get your landlord to give permission. Most landlords allow it - not sure why he wouldnt want you to, doesnt change anything for him.
  5. Just an update... I received the full £69 for my 1st account. I wrote accepting the offer of £166 but advised I would take them to court for the rest so I have now received an offer of £498! Again I have written back saying yes but will take to court for the rest. I have given them 7 days to respond and said I will take them to court with no further corresspondance at this has gone on long enough. 6 days and counting!
  6. Thank you! Have just typed them a letter which will be sent tomorrow. Will keep you updated.
  7. Hiya Halifax have written to me offering me £166.00 as full and final settlement of my complaint.... the amount I want back is £841.72. They have also written to me regarding another account offering me £69.00 as full and final settlement of my complaint..... the amount I was trying to get back was..... wait for it..... £69.00!! So they have offered me the full amount on that one! My question is...... do I accept the money in both cases and then take them to court to get the rest of the first claim? Also how do I accept the money without signing the form they sent me??
  8. Hey, I dont mind you hijacking my thread - you go for it..... Its great to hear! Can you tape your call when you finally get to make it???? I'm sure we would all love to hear that one!
  9. Yes - sent it to the head office - got the address from the thread at the top of the Abbey board. Good luck!
  10. They stayed ok with me.... I got my money so I'm happy!
  11. finally received mine on about day 60 ish. I had to fax the data protection department in the end and they got the details to me quite quickly...... this was due to the fact they were already over the 40 days and I had threatened to take if further..... they 'waived' my £10 fee too! On Monday they will receive my letter asking for £900 back!
  12. Did you find out?? I have a load of these one mine too and I don't know what they are.
  13. Halifax went over the 40 days with my request.... this is being 'looked in to' by the customer care department. They lost my letters and then ignored my email reminding them they only had 14 days left. Chase, Chase, Chase is what i recommend.
  14. After Abbey received the court papers, they replied to the courts saying they were going to defend..... I was soooooo excited! However I then got a letter enclosing a cheque for the amount of my claim plus costs on a 'without prejudice basis and entirely without any admission of liability'. Well at least I still won!
