  1. Thanks! Thats good to know, just got a bit worried after accepting the initial offer
  2. Any advice on this would be useful, trying to put my mind at ease. I'd rather not have the account closed, but I'm sure I can make arrangements elsewhere if it is... Do many people have accounts closed with HSBC on smaller claims? It doesnt seem to be the case. This site has been a great help, and I have recommended it to others at work with similar situations, I shall be making a donation as soon as the offer has been completed.
  3. Hello all After reading thoroughly through these forums, I made my first contact to HSBC, following the template carefully. To my delight, they responded with an offer after the first letter, which I intentd to accept (its only for around a grand, and the difference is negligible). What are the chances of them closing my account at this stage? Has this happened to anyone else? Or would they notify me of this with the offer?
  4. Couple of last questions before i send this letter off. 1. What seems to be the general consensus on the most successful contact to send this to? There have been several mentioned thus far, and Mr Alan Petty seems to be the most likely candidate, anyone have any comments on this? 2. I'm due to be moving house in 3 weeks time, I presume this wouldnt really affect anything as long as I change my details in time and let the bank know? Cheers for any advice on the above
  5. Hi Richard, any chance you could let us know the address you sent this off to, and the template of the letter?
  6. What would happen if you sent the LBA out to HSBC, but then quit at that stage? Does the LBA have any legal implications at all? Or if you didnt take it any further would the matter simply be dropped at that point?
  7. ok a couple more questions before i finally build the confidence to do this... my situation with HSBC is thus: I have an overdraft in place (1600-worth), along with the remainder of a graduate loan (4000, due to be paid off by september next year, never missed a payment yet), and also a credit card with a 3000 balance on it. My question is thus, how easy would it be to find a parachute account for the above? I presume they can close your account, but what about the credit card and the loan? Can they be touched? Also, what exactly do you say when you go in and ask for a new bank account with someone else? "Hi, i need an account with an immediate £1600 worth of debt please"
  8. Ok thanks for the info, how often does account closure occur with HSBC? There dont seem to be many posts about it, which is a good thing i guess?
  9. Also, another I meant to ask. Many people on here state that after the first letter they are hit with charges from the bank, if so, what kind of charges and roughly how much are we talking about? Is this for the letters and so on that they send out or something else?
  10. Just a couple of general questions regarding HSBC specifically: 1. At what stage have most people encountered an offer for settlement, whether partial or full? Looking through the cases that seems to be after the LBA has been sent in, would that generalisation be correct? 2. What would happen if someone were to quit after the LBA has been sent? Does the bank generally just drop the issue at that point or would there be a risk of account closure at that stage? again just generally regarding HSBC, looking through the cases this is hard to judge. 3. Has there ever been a case where HSBC has actually gone to court to defend? Just playing with whether or not to claim at the moment, i'm a little scared about the closure of my account or the possibility of going to court to be honest, weighing up the odds.
