  1. but isnt it discrimination? if i could go in on monday and just buy a coffee but on tuesday because i have my child with me i have to buy a meal if i want a coffee. that cant be right can it?
  2. at a mums and baby group one mum i know said she had gone into a well know cafe/ bar and was told she couldnt just have a coffee , like we normally do when we meet up without babies, they said she would have to buy a meal because she had a baby with her. is that legal?
  3. would they have to remove them from his file?
  4. she wants to leave it , she says he believed her in the end and doesnt want the hassle. thanx for the sdvise, i wish i could complain for her. he shouldnt get away with stunts like that.
  5. can debts from when you are under 18 stay on your credit file? a friend of mine got into trouble with britannia when he was 16 and it messed up his credit rating but from what i understand a minor cannot enter a credit agreement so it would have to be taken off by experian ? am i right?
  6. my friend had a visit from a baliff today for the people who lived there before she did. they were from the courts and as soon as she opened the door he put his foot in the door. her baby girl was half way up the stairs so she let him in. she told him she wasn't the person he was after and she thought she had died ( she knew the woman through a family member) . he said the warrent was for the house and she would have to prove this wioman was dead! she is no relation to this woman and only knew her in passing. my friend had to show him her tennancy agreement from council showing how she was and ring round three people to say this woman was dead! he told her she was lucky it wasn't ballif van as they could just come and take the stuff from the address. is any of this legal and can she complain to courts about him?
  7. i had to have a second hand or preused as they called it laptop from the same company, it failed all the time made funny noises ect and i wasnt happy. i told them i had sought legal advise and would take them to court unless i got a full refund and they gave in, eventually after trying to upgrade me then trying to get me to use the money i had already spent on something else in store. stick to your guns
  8. personally i would pay the full rent so you have done nothing wrong, but get straight onto your landlord, tell him he has a legal obligation to provide hot water, (i only know this because i was told by a housing assossiation that the trickle of hot water in their house was all they legally had to provide and so long as there is even a trickle of warm water coming out of the tap they have filled their obligation to me!) you may be able to come to some sort of arrangement if he knows you mean buisness
  9. i was in exactly same position as you, got made homeless then council put me in a problem house on the worse estate in the area. i was broken into , has stuff in my garden set on fire and brick thrown over the fence when my kids were playing , graffiti on my front door it was awful and the council said nthey wouldnt move me. but i went into the office every day with a sheet of paper with everything that had happened the day before on it and look around for empty houses and made a list of these for them and took it in. after 4 weeks of seeing me every day and constantly ringing they offered me this 4 bed house next door to my brother!
  10. Debt Basics - Bailiff Guide - know your rights this guide may help.
  11. as far as i know your landlord is obliged to provide hot water . and should reduce the rent. tell him you are going to contact cab and chas housing who will if need be be able to draft legal letters and help. it may just make him rethink his decision not to at least reduce rent. with no hot water the property would not be considered habitable in a court of law i would say.
  12. you need to keep complaining to your council and tell them you are scared of what will happen if they just keep going round to tell them off. it may also be worth mentioning you know about the previous tennents and what happened to them. when you speak to council ask to have someone assisgned to your case, some one who you can refer to when ringing this will help with continuity with your complaints. insist that you want a move or for serious action to be taken against your neighbours and start ringing the council with EVERY LITTLE THING they do. i have found that most counsils have policy in place where they dont help you untill you nstart to annoy them and badger them. you have a right to enjoy your home and should not have to put up with this garbage, good luck and keep me posted
  13. i thought the new laws that are coming into place were going to reduce the ammount for attendance?
  14. THIS MIGHT BE A STUPID QUESTION BUT IF YOU THOUGHT YOUR HOUSING BENEFIT OFFICE HAS BEEN NOTIFIED YOU WERE STARTING WORK DIDNT YOU START PAYING YOUR OWN RENT? IN WHICH CASE RENT WOULD HAVE BEEN PAID TWICE AND YOU CAN CLAIM IT BACK OFF YOUR LANDLORD?
  15. you poor thing, iv been in a similar situation. so i know how your feeling. forget your partner you need to sort out a permanent home for you and your child. go to your council asap! if its not for this small debt he will find another reason to kick you out later along the line. ring the courts and take control over the situation. you will feel so much better when you start to organise you own life without relying on this silly imature man. all my love and best wish's
  16. isnt there that law about repayment of an overpayment if it would place you in a finincially worse of position? you could get some or all of it written off because the mistake wasnt yours.
  17. i spend £100 per month on my 4 bed, double glazed, middle terrace, but im on pre payment so more expensive.
  18. i would say to ring them again and ask them to send you a means test. thats says everything you have coming in and everything you have going out. as far as i know unless the bailiffs are court appointed (working for council tax ect) they cannot just take your things and must apply to the courts first so you will have your chance to explain to a judge if needs be your circumstances. personally i would just tell tehm you will see them in court
  19. when i was claiming my husbands back we didnt hear anything from the bank for ages so went to court on the day and the clerk told us barclays barrister was already there.... i almost pooed myself thinking i would have to defend in court but it turned out they were sendind letters to our old address and just wanted to pay up there and them. lol
  20. no of course not , i just think therte is often more to it than people just wanting to rip the " good, honest " tax payers off. people who dont pay tax because they are on benefits still are people as are benefit cheats. i dont see how naming and shaming a poor person who has had to benefit cheat will solve anything apart from make the tax payers feel a bit better and get the cheats kids bullied at school and make it harder for the cheat to eventually get a job. who wants a benefit cheat working for them?
  21. omg you people, have a bit of compasion. the p;eople who get caught cheating are usually the single mothers who work the odd shift in a pub for a bit of cash to cover birthdays and christmas ect. the easy to find targets. they are not trying to rip you off they are just trying to keep thier heads above water. iv been on benefits and it bloody hard to bring kids up on that sort of money its not the life of riley you lot seem to think it is. My children didnt get new clothes , everything was bought from charity shops and we had best buy everything in my cupboards and some weeks i still didnt have enough money to pay all my bills so i can totally understand why some people cheat.
  22. well said, not everyone who "cheats" is a chav who drinks it up the wall. i know of people who are payinf off crisis loans and council tax arrears and overpayments of tax credits directly from income support payments and are left with very little for themselves and thier children to live on. what are they supposed to do? its very difficult to see it from all sides till you have been sat praying that the emergency credit wont run out on your metre and you have run out of nappies and have no money AT ALL in your purse. i can totally understand why some people work cash in hand for a little bit extra to help with essencials and if i were in that situation i woulkd be more than tempted to do it too.
