  6. Is that in the paperwork they sent us before we went to court? Coz after court we were not given anything. Thanks
  7. Hi, I was reading somewhere that when you are taken to court for a debt, one of the good reasons to go to court is that at least interest is stopped. Well ours hasn't. We were taken to court by Northern Rock in Feb this year for a £30k loan that we took out with our mortgage (together mortgage) - unsecured loan. We took it out in Sept 2005 and just over 2 years later we went onto a dmp, and 8 mths after paying them on the dmp they took us to court. The judge decided that the way CCCS had worked out the payments pro rata by payments made rather than by total debt wasn't fair
  8. Found this link to the IBAS (Independent Banking Advisory Service) news archives, the founder quoted what it actually costs banks to charge us: Analysis reveals the charge for a bounced cheque is up £7.75 or 31.67% in 2 years. The Independent Banking Advisory Service consumer group accused the Government of failing tp protect the public against bank rip-offs. Founder Eddy Weatherill said: 'These charges are generated automatically by computers. The true cost to the bank is just a fraction of a penny for each bounced item, yet they are hitting customers with more than £30. These are extort
  9. According to this article, there is an advice centre set up in glasgow uni which is helping students claim back their unlawful fees, one student settled out of court for £5,000. I wonder if we contact them they could give us some info or advice that has helped them, although scottish law may be different. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/4722288.stm Kat
  10. This was published on BBC news website couple of days ago: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/4781924.stm It is interesting to see peoples comments at the bottom, talking about £30 charges and such. I hope they are charged a windfall tax - good idea!
  11. Hi, Found this article about bank charges on the net: http://www.rip-off.co.uk/banks.htm It's quite old - 2001 but interesting anyway. Kat
  12. I have read peoples letters that they have been receiving from barclays, and common to most, if not all, of them is this paragraph: When an account is opened with us, our customer is provided with a copy on the T&C's relating to the use of their account including details of our charges. This information clearly explains our obligations to our customers, as well as their obligations to us. If we make any changes to the T&C's we provide details of these to our customes in line with the Banking Code. Details of or T&C's and charging tariff can be obtained at any of ou
  13. I like it too! I am going to use that one I think. Kat
  14. Hi enigma, Your letter is great just one little pernickety thing: Can you change except to 'accept' as that is the correct english. Good luck with your case! Kat x
