  1. Thank you very much Bookworm. I really appreciate all your help. Thanks to Conniff too. I'll get that typed up and posted off tomorrow, I'll let you all know what happens.
  2. Saturday 16th Jan mate. Believe me, that's more than enough for a family of 7. Two teenagers, three toddlers plus parents. ....and a Dog what with the terrible weather we've had recently I have no way of drying my clothes, the house looks like a Chinese laundrette.
  3. Thanks Bookworm. You couldn't point me to an appropriate letter template could you? I'm scared incase I send the wrong one.
  4. So unless they do it as a 'Goodwill Gesture', I'll just have to take what they offer me? I'll maybe phone them and sweet-talk the rep. Thanks for your help Conniff.
  5. OK, thanks. What sort of time period are we talking about, that would allow a mandatory refund? I'm just under 6 months.
  6. I bought a tumble dryer from Littlewoods on the 29th July 2009, it broke last Saturday - 16th Jan, I called BEKO and they sent an 'engineer' . Anyway, guy comes out and fixes belt, he turns machine on to test it and all we hear is a nasty grinding, he looks at it and decides that the bearings have went and that he'll need to replace the entire drum, he tells me it will be repaired in '2 days'. It's now the 27th January and I'm still without a dryer. I phoned BEKO earlier and they tell me, first of all that I don't exist and secondly, the replacement part is coming in from abroad and will not even be in the UK for at least another 5 days! I complain and hang up, having now decided I want my money back. I phone Littlewoods, after a long drawn argument with me quoting the Sale of Goods Act and throwing in little personal tit-bits, item not fit for purpose, 5 kids needing their clothes washed and dried, cr4p weather can't hang them out...yadda yadda, she insists that I must let them make 3 attempts to repair it before I can be refunded as that is their 'Policy', I advised her that the SOGA holds more weight than Littlewoods policies, but she's not interested in the slightest. I've had no drier since the 16th January, today is the 27th and the replacement part will not even be in the UK before the 2nd of February, then I'll need to wait for them to contact me and arrange a repair. What's my next step?
  7. On the 15th Jan I purchased 12months road tax for my car, I bought it online on the DVLA website. 3 days later my car was a fireball, and now it is basically a steel shell awaiting inspection by my Insurers. Two days after the fire, my Road Tax arrived via the post. How do I claim my tax back? I grabbed a V14 form from the post office but I'm confused as to what I need to do now, it appears that it's not as simple as filling in a form and posting it off. I'm 100% certain that the insurance co. will write-off the car, and when they do, how do I get my tax back, if I read the V14 correctly then Road Tax can only be refunded to the owner of the vehicle, which will then be my insurer and not me? :-| So, I have 12months tax and a V14 form and a car awaiting inspection, what's my next move? Tax comes into effect on the 1st Feb.
  8. I've read so much on this site and now my head is spinning. Do I initially contact my local branch or do I contact their headquaters? Regards.
  9. I see lots of posts from people using other banks that have been successfull but so far I've not seena single post where anyone has been successfull with the Clydesdale/Yorkshire. Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong places. Great site BTW.
