    50% Offer

Seems that Barclays are taking the route of offering 50% back. Your letter seems OK to me.
  3. If you visit the MSE website there is details on which banks will offer accounts
  4. Their letter reads "you are seeking a reund of £3015 which is the total amount of charges incurred over the last 6 years" and they will refund 50% of this being £1507. They dont say any where this is an estimate. I asked under the Data Protection Act for a list of the total charges but they havent supplied them. They have to do this within 40 days.
  5. I sent my request for refund to Barclays on the 23rd Feb and they said they would reply before the 7th. Got a reply today saying the usually but as a gesture of goodwill will refund me half the total amount paid. I'm shocked that I have actually paid £3015 over the last 6 years in charges. No Wonder I needed an overdraft!!!! I'm sticking to my guns and going to write today saying I will be issuing a claim in 14 days for the FULL balance plus costs & interest.
  6. Waynus, Why dont you go along and pay a visit to the Martin Lewis Website (hope you dont mind the plug) and take a look at the Debt-Free Wannabe thread. Its dedicated to people who are trying to get themselves out of Debt. The debt they are in has been caused by various factors ie Illness, Redundancy, Personal Problems and yes over spending. However these people are trying by all kinds of methods to claw their way out of their current situations. BUT you only need to look at the ridicilous amounts of bank charges that are being imposed on them to realise that the banks are not helping these people but rubbing their hands in glee by the amount of profit they are making at their misery. Very few of the banks are helpful in these circumstances as you will read. Yes sure you can say that they shouldnt get themselves in these situations but how do we know what is around the corner for any of us?? I for one wasnt taught how to look after my money as a child either by my parents or by the education authority. So why shouldnt we be able to claim back money that has been taken illegally? No matter what your moral stance on this matter the bank is illegally taking this money.
  7. Yes I've read the forums and couldnt find anything relevant that answered the question Can you advise which is the correct section? Thanks I sent the standard 7 day letter thats in the library including a request they said copies of all charges but they want me to wait until 7th March for them to investigage the matter!!! So they havent replied in the time scale given for the return of money. Therefore I want to proceed with the claim asap. If I wait the 40 days will this not show that I am not prepared to go ahead with the claim. Also I want to claim 8% interest, would this be calculated from 6 years ago? Obviously without having exact details I cant calaculate this correctly.

  9. Ive estimated that I have paid around £2000 in bank charges but I havent received the info from my bank. Im giving them until Monday and Im going to issue my claim Can I issue this for an estimated amount? Am I right in thinking it would then be up to the bank to prove this wrong?

  11. I estimate that I have paid nearly £2k in bank charges over the last few years and thanks to this site have now started my claim back Sent standard 7 days letter to Barclays on Friday 17th which gives them until Monday the 27th (allowing for the weekends, Im being generous!) Received letter today saying they are investigating the matter and will respond before the 7th March. I expect I will receive a standard reply that I have agreed to their T&C blah blah Tomorrow I will fax them again saying that I will be issuing my claim on the 27th and I am not prepared to wait until the 7th. Do you think it is a good idea to fax a copy of the County Court Claim that I will be issuing? (I know you cant do this when collecting Debts, but ppl do it regardless)
