Hi ffocus. I was charged 4 times by Barclays in 1 month. If you check the terms and conditions you will find you can actually be charged upto 6 times a month. Basically Barclays stipulate their charge month. Mine happens to be between the 12th to 12th of every month. The charges are not done on calendar months like you and i would expect. Therefore i could be charged £90 from say August 1st to the 12th then a further £90 of charges could be incurred from 13th to the 31st August. Just thought i would clarify this for you. Hi Sharmads. If there was any manual intervention that would be provided almost certainly within the banks breakdown charges i'd believe. Yet we all know that the banks won't provide these details to reassure their customers that their fees are justified. To me the following line says it all Maybe i interprupt the wording incorrectly, if i do then maybe a mod or someone else who has done the same as myself and lockedintheattic can enlighten us and advise what the outcome of their case was.

I wouldn't waste your time with the Data Protection Act letter as you have more then likely asked them to prove their charges to you in the preliminary letter you have sent. taken from preliminary letter. I am at the stage where you are having sent my letter off for repayment i will be awaiting 14 days then i will hit them with my LBA.

I understand you will not be able to claim the account fees as these are lawful charges for running your account as you pay these for the service of your account. unpaid outs,commission & paid referals you can. 8% interest can only be charged when you start with moneyclaim. Finally i have decided not to claim overdraft interest as i felt this will cover the banks fees and also it can be very difficult to work the exact ammount out that you can claim. good luck. Arglye.

Hi All. Just would like to start saying what a great forum this is and how very supportive to each other everyone here is, will probably need your support in the time ahead. Hopefully your support in the unknown time ahead will get my nerves through my claim to the end. This is my first post and though i have been following other people's cases closely and reading the faq's this is the first time i actually feel ready to take on Barclays. I do have a couple of questions before i start and was wondering if anyone could advise me. Firstly i have setup a parachute account and have statements received for the last 6 years, which i have checked over and highlighted all those unfair charges. My first question is do i need to send the DPA letter or can i start straight with the letter for approach for payment seeing the bank has sent my statements, with my calculations enclosed with the letter? I have decided with the wife that i will not persue the interest charges on our account as i feel this to be adequate fees to cover Barclays expenses and all i require is the payment of those £20,£25 & £30 charges back. Finally this came about after a conversation with a customer advisor from Barclays, after requesting my statements on the phone he advised that i send the letter for refund of charges to the Leicester Branch :o , must admit his remarks knocked me out of step for few seconds until i composed myself again and politely replied that the request was for my records only and that he was wrong to presume why i wanted our statements .So my 2nd question is will the Leicester Branch be ok to send my letter to or am i being setup?
