  1. Consumer warning on wills in Scotland Anyone in Scotland who has made (or is thinking of making) a will appointing a solicitor, or a firm of solicitors or A Trustee Company set up by a firm of Solicitors Food for thought!
  2. Thinking about making a will in Scotland? Thinking about appointing "professional" trustees like Brodies & Co (Trustees) Ltd. Think twice and then think again. Brodies & Co (Trustees) Ltd will appoint their associated company Brodies LLP to be the solicitors. The Directors of Brodies & Co (Trustees)are also the managing partners of Brodies LLP. No effective control over costs which may spiral. Beneficiaries are not the clients of the firm so vey little the beneficiaries can do to limit costs. Law Society of Scotland allows these professional trustee companies to appoint their own associated law firms - not a good situation for beneficiaries.
