  1. I’ve received another letter from IDR asking me to fill in my income and outgoings and an offer of what I am willing to pay . Is this a “letter of claim” Is that what I need to not ignore?
  2. Letter posted, proof of postage obtained, also emailed soft copy to their collections email address and kept a copy for myself. I will update the post with updates, if any. Feeling like I’ve done all I can at this stage.
  3. Wow! That is enough to keep anyone awake at night! Yes ok the less detail the better. Thanks again.
  4. Great advice thank you, should I make reference to the amounts already paid and dates of transfers? Which lead me to the final balance or not bother?
  5. Not since my return I have always communicated via email and phone. I may have provided my uk address to them when I set the account up when I lived there but can’t be certain. I assumed they were the ones who provided my email and address to IDR? In my letter to them, requesting some kind of settlement, would you advise I do confirm my address to them so they are as up to date as possible? I’m drafting my letter today.
  6. Yes I do I own a house here and have lived in it before moving away, then again after I returned and I’m still here now. I’ve read the letter of claim is the point a response is required so won’t ignore it. So far letters and emails from IDR have just been the generic asking me to call them.
  7. Thank you for the heads up. Account was taken out in 2017 and I left the UAE in 2018. I haven’t been stopped at the airport I haven’t returned to or attempted to since I left.
  8. Thank you both, I’ll update the post with how my story ends (here’s hoping it does)
  9. Ok that is very reassuring, it’s easy to think the worst when you feel like your not finding a realistic solution. I only came accross this site this morning so very new to how it works, how can I locate the the threads for more info? Thank you for being so responsive
  10. I was only clarifying the card has no link to my UK accounts despite making the transfers from UK. Yes I’ve tried writing via email numerous times with no response, hence why I called but am yet to receive a response. Just feels like I’m getting nowhere and the interest is mounting up. Wasn’t sure if anyone else has been through the process of coming to a settlement with them and the means to do so
  11. Ahhh apologies I see, no I didn’t. They offered me the credit card when I opened a bank account with them. It was linked to my uae bank account but not linked to anything in the UK.
  12. I’m not sure what you mean in terms of a security cheque? I sent the first 3 instalments via bank transfer.
  13. I’m hoping to get some advice on my situation as I’m really keen to find a solution and put the situation behind me. I left Dubai in 2018 with a credit card debit of £8k . I arranged a payment plan when I was back in the UK with Emirates to pay £2k per month which I was able to commit to until my circumstances changed and was unable to make the final payment (looking back I am kicking myself for allowing this to happen) but I can’t go back in time and just to to resolve this now. I stuck my head in the sand and ignored their emails. This year I received a couple of letters and emails from IDRW regarding the TOTAL debt of £8k which in all honesty hasn’t fazed me as the lack of info they have and reading other threads to just ignore, all it’s done is spur me on to try and speak to emirates to fix it. I haven’t responded to IDR. I’ve called Emirates and they were very unhelpful and couldn’t even find my details for 10 mins (at £2 a minute to call by this point I had lost patience) once they finally found my details Said I owe them £7k with all the interest that has accrued. What I want to do, is pay them what I owe (2k) and potentially some of the interest but it’s not possible For me to start again. Does anyone know how I can approach the situation with them for a fair outcome? Do I need legal representation to come to a fair settlement?
