I have received a parking charge notice through the post from NE Parking Ltd. I parked on a small shop frontage (space for 3 cars) I parked there to allow my passenger, who walks with the aid of a stick, to visit the bank next door. I would not normally do this as I appreciate the parking is for customers only although I have on one previous occasion parked when the shop was open and got permission from the owner. The shop has recently ceased trading so I assumed it would be ok to park as I was not preventing customers from parking. I sat in the car until my passenger returned which was approximately 20 mins. NE Parking Ltd have included several photographs of my vehicle parked which suggests someone took the photographs whilst I was sat in the car and if they had approached me I would have been happy to move although I would have questioned why it was a problem when the shop was no longer trading and my parking was not hindering their business. Do I have to pay this charge? Can they legally enforce the charge? Should I respond to the letter of charge or ignore it?
