  1. The property is a detached home built 19 years ago and has been supplied gas since build. The meter is a 2001 meter too, so its definitely been there since that date. I gave NG the Meter serial and they have no record of the meter or the address either. We tried both. The Find my Supplier site doesnt have the address either. Even a search for postcode alone, doesnt show up anything. There truly is no record of anyone supplying gas to the property. There is an address on the FindmySupplier site that doesnt actually exist, but again it says No Supplier and the MPAN is not matching to the serial of the meter installed. So it would be a bit of a stretch to say that this is my meter. Both the supplier and NG seem to be comfortable and admit that because no meter is registered, then I will not be liable for any gas until the MPAN is registered. Just wish it was winter so I could be blasting the gas happily for free.
  2. Ok, I have searched around a bit and seem to be comfortable with what I have found but I thought some clarification may be useful just to keep myself right. Moved into a house after purchase a few weeks ago. I have made quite a few calls after this as the old lady who lived here, passed, and her daughter had no idea who the Gas and Electricity were with. Finally found the Electricity company and have added my details. BUT, the gas is a different kettle of fish. The supplier said they have no account for the property. I gave them the meter Serial number, and still nothing. they asked me to call NG and give them the serial number as well to see if there was a supplier/MPAN. Imagine my shock when I got told, absolutely no MPAN under the serial number. Also, no record of the address whatsoever. SG, then advised to go back to the Electricity Supplier and ask them to register the Gas Meter Serial number and then I would get a MPAN. I called the supplier back. They were happy to fill the details in and register it. But they've told me 3-4 weeks minimum for the MPAN. They also told me I will only be billed from the value on the meter at the point the MPAN is provided. So, is this right. Any red flags here. Or just enjoy free gas until they register the thing then happily pay them from that day on?
