Makes sense, is there a way CWD could take you to a court in UK for a debt that was originally from UAE? Have been reading loads and getting mixed stories

I have read that people have been made bankrupt in the UK for a debt in the UAE, is this true or false?

I have had stuff through the post too, Coyle Whyte Devine are the latest so don't be alarmed if you receive anything from them. They sent me credit card statements the lot and said I have 30 days to pay or respond. but please look at my thread too as this will give you more information.

This is from IDRWW, I had exactly the same letter. They can't do anything but they will send you more letters.

yeah was £6k and now 60k with interest! ! My issue is that I have a large amount of equity in my property which I obviously don’t want to lose. I appreciate I should be safe but always at the back of your mind. And you are correct if it went as far as court how can they stand there and justify another £54k in interest!!

At the moment they have sent me the standard cwd letter, financial statements of the credit cards and an information sheet. Cheers

Thank you for your reply, I have read loads of threads and looked at different websites about them. I have read they have gone to court here in the UK. I appreciate it is probably scare mongering but I have equity in the house and a young family so need to make sure I am 100% safe . Is it better to ignore or ask for everything? They have sent me my cc agreement and cc statements too. Cheers

Hi, I have been contacted by CWD who state I owe £60k, I have 30 days to respond/pay up in full.I I own a house with equity and am concerned they will try to make me bankrupt thus losing my house. I left the UAE in 2011 and was originally contacted by IDRWW last month . I am finding it hard to find a solicitor who deals with such things. Does anyone have any ideas? I am tempted to contact the bank directly and come up with a settle meant for the original amount which was around £6000. Thanks in advance for any advice.
