  1. Thank you all. I’ll get back into the credit card company tomorrow. Fingers crossed we can get it back
  2. I was told because we cancelled without any good reason (other than we decided we didn’t have time to plan it!). I’ve subsequently had a ski accident so am waiting for 2 ops on my knee plus c-19 so obviously the right decision. I’ll try s75 again.
  3. I paid by credit card but have been told by bank s75 cca won’t cover (though that was before c-19).
  4. Hi hope someone can give me a bit of advice. We decided to cancel our wedding, scheduled for 18 April 2020, at the end of November 2019, giving approximately 5 months notice. We had already paid £500 which I was told was 'non-refundable' unless the date was re-sold. Obviously due to c-19 the date didn't re-sell and the venue has been forced to close down until further notice. Am I now entitled to a full refund of my deposit, given that they couldn't re-sell the date in any event, but also they haven't lost any actual costs as the venue was shut. Also, were they allowed to withhold this money irrespective of what was in our contract as we gave them a good amount of notice?
  5. Hi please can someone give some employment advice. 3 month probation period was extended by 6 weeks. Had a new line manager in this time who doesn't understand the role being performed. During this subsequent extension had a bad accident so been off work sick. Had 3 weeks left of extended probation to go before accident. Now back working but only on half days for the foreseeable. Been told that probation has been now been further extended by another 4 months. Work has slowed due to c-19 and working remote. Is a 4 month extension allowed. No reason given other than to allow time to get up to speed - it looks like they want to re-run the full probationary period with new line manager in situ. Not sure what to do for the best.
  6. No expert but I would think that they have to refund back to the card to cover money laundering issues. That said, can't you cancel the card? That way, they will have to refund any outstanding credit balance back to your bank account that direct debits are taken from. Know it's a pain but possibly a solution?
  7. We are a limited company furniture restoration business, provided an estimate for work to repolish some furniture to match an existing piece - stated it was from photos only on the estimate sent, however, only said verbally that it would be close but not 100% match. Price was accepted and work completed. Customer happy and paid immediately in full. One month on, customer has called to say has had a friend round who thinks it's not shiny enough - or as shiny as the existing piece - and that now not happy with the work and wants us to go back and sort. Says we didn't say it wouldn't be an exact match. In effect the friend has managed to change customer's mind. This is a 1 hr each way journey and to undertake the additional work to burnish the pieces will take a full day. Customer has also had redecoration completed in the last month, including new white carpets - not ideal. Question - as paid in full and straight away, and customer initially stated happy with the work, are we now at all liable for any remedial works after the items have been back in the customer's house for a month and being polished and cleaned with products that we are not aware of and that may have caused a dullness to the finish. Can we say we don't want to now get involved with any further work (which isn't going to be easy to match to existing exactly) and what potential come-back could this cause?
  8. Latest update - chris has gone AWOL. Steve and Mark have taken over workshop and want all cars gone by end September. Derbyshire police very interested in this case as below. Lots of people have been defrauded. People affected need to ring 101... press # for alternative station and say Derbyshire. Then get through to that constabulary (if you are not from round there). You can quote this incident number and it will make a bigger case. If you can get in to make a statement then great! Ex-employees / customers alike! EDIT: CASE NUMBER 797250917

  15. Thanks Stotty. You'll have to remain vigilant that he doesn't join erroneously via someone else. Just tried - closed group not found
  16. Hi Tiger. Yes if your car has not been returned to you in the same condition ie with all its bits then it is theft and must definitely should be reported as so. If you can prove these have been sold on for his own profit, even better. I'm also going after him as an individual - as it was him, not the ltd co, that took our car. If you go to police, get a crime number and share it so that we can all tag onto the same crime reference. Thanks
  17. I agree a group of victims is needed to get the criminal charge brought. The police will have more inclination to act. Happy to be of help Stotty157 if I can. Otherwise, it's individual small claims for assets he doesn't have and minimal chance of custody.
  18. Personally I don't want to post the full story or updates on here as Chris also reads this site. I want to find a way of getting names/ numbers for all affected and then seeing what police will do - lot more chance of them taking it seriously if there is a group. And yes, he did get next instalments based on the emails saying he had done work. I know it's fraud, you know it's fraud but how to get him in custody is another matter. Problem is admin tell you to start a new thread each time. Anyway. He did export money based on the emails = fraud. However getting him in custody is another matter.
  19. Sorry I didn't see that post. There are a few on here re nwmc and it's all a bit confusing. How can we speak directly? Can I call you?
  20. in my case he took the car after verbal estimate and initial deposit. Sent email updates confirming work had been done and requesting next instalments which were paid. I've recovered vehicle, however none if the work has been done; it's exactly how I handed it to him, just 3 years more rusty and falling to bits. He's clearly taken money with absolutely no intention to do any work and indeed, lied by email to extract more money from me. Surely this is criminal and he needs to be locked up by the police. The small claims court/litigation route, will only prevent him from being a director of a limited company but not put him behind bars where he can't prey on people who love their cars. How do we collect names of everyone who has been affected by this and get him done for fraud?
  21. We've had progress and recovered our mini. Despite having emails to the contrary, including photos, no work has been carried out and the car is a rust bucket. Devastating
  22. Thanks. I've recovered our mini, however to recover if you need to recover the money paid for work not completed I've been told to do it as a group of consumers rather than individually. Did you pay him and did he do the work?
  23. Hi if anyone has their car with NWMC, or if you know of anyone who does, please can you inbox me as soon as possible. Many thanks
