  1. Hi again and, thankyou for the advice to date. I wondered if one of the administrators on here would have/or will move my thread to one of the sub forums.........such as 'Debt collecting agencies'. The more responces for me to consider, the better i guess. Kind rgards.
  2. Thankyou for your reply. As i said, i have checked my credit report over the years and have never seen a default. Trustline's records only go back 6 years anyway but, thats not my question right now and, with respect the letter i've received from the council regarding the electoral register reads that its a legal requirement or i could face an £80 fine. But thats irrelevant as well because i do intend to register. What i'm trying to discover, is by not ever being on the electoral register, what methods would a dca use and how persistant they would be, thus i can make a form calculated opinion as to whether my shortfall was sold to a dca or for some reason was never persued. With where i am at this stage in my life, as per my original post. Thankyou kindly.
  3. Hello everyone. I have been reading the posts on here for some time and, appreciate how people are non judgmental and try to help. Although my story is similar to many, all differ slightly and i have decided to post on here so feel free to advise. I will be as brief as possible: Handed keys back to building society in 2000, property sold in 2001. 33k shortfall. Stayed at my parents for a couple of weeks, then moved to another town staying with friends and generally moving around for the past 15 years. In 2001 (approx) my parents received one knock on the door asking for me, they don't know if the 2 people were from the building society or dca because they told them to 'get lost'. Also around this time they received one recorded delivery letter for me which, they don't recall from where but, returned to sender. their house was my last known address and was from 2000 until the end of 2015. I had my car registered there, managed to open a bank account and had my mobile phone contract opened there. I've had the same phone number ever since. i've never been on the electoral register anywhere. 15 months ago i moved into rented property. I want to start again without worry. I do realise the shortfall is statue barred. where i live now 15 months ago i went on the council tax, opened a new bank account, opened a savings account and transferred everything else from my parents address to this one. A recent look on my credit file which i've checked over the years shows nothing bad, and currently only shows searches made a year ago by the new bank and by the new savings company and car insurance. I have now of course received a letter requesting me to register on the electoral register or be fined. This i am about to do i was wondering if people could offer their opinion and thus so not to confuse or deviate from my question which revolves around the electoral register i have broken it into 3. 1) If my shortfall was sold to a dca: being that my last known address was my parents house where indeed i held a bank account, tax details, car insurance, mobile phone. Despite not going on the electoral register would i be correct to assume that surely a dca would have been be more persistant over the past 15 years.......send me letters/knock on the door/speak to neighbours, try some tactic? 2) As above really, surely a dca would not be waiting these past 15/16 years for me to register on the electoral roll. I mean i would assume they would be more persistant than to just look at the register once a year to see if my name appears (and my surname is very uncommon). Surely they would not just wait until i re appear especially now that the shortfall is statue barred. 3) having not been on the electoral register for the past 15 years, i would assume as above that a dca would have more persistance and more methods available. For the past 15 months at my new address i'm: on council tax. have 2 high street bank accounts, a well known savings account, tax records and accountant, mobile phone contract ,driving license, car registered here with dvla, car insurance, paypal, ebay, dentist, doctors. Kindest of regards.
