  1. Thanks topcat, same here! Claim gone through now!
  2. Can anyone offer any advice please? I sent my tax credits renewal by post on 20th July ( no proof of postage) I hadn't heard anything this week and noticed my payments had stopped. I rang the helpline and was told my claim was filed late on 8th August. As the claim was late they couldn't accept the estimated income figure I had provided for my partner who is self employed and so my claim had been terminated! We are still in process of submitting our figures for his tax return so won't know the actual income for a couple if weeks. In the meantime I have had a letter saying I have been overpaid and they will be looking to get the money back! What should I do?
  3. We purchased a lamona intergrated microwave oven from howdens in feb 2012. Today the microwave has developed a fault whereby it will not switch off. We have the receipt for the oven which advises to contact lamona insruction manual in the event of a malfunction. The user guide refers us to the customer care line for this particular fault. They are not open this evening so I intend to contact them in the morning. I was just looking for some advice on my right to repair seeing as we have had the oven for more than a year? Is it still reasonable to expect the oven to not develop a fault after 17 months of use?
  4. My niece bought a NetBook from Argos 18 months ago. The NetBook has never worked properly and despite going in to the store within the first 12 months they were referred to the manufacturer who has given them a number is software updates that work for short periods of time before they fail again. The manufacturer is now refusing to do anymore as they say it is out of the 12 month warranty? Any advice? The NetBook was bought with cash? And at the moment they can't find the receipt??
  5. Holister charge a massive £20 for deivery! does anyone know if there is any sort of legislatio/guidance stating that post and packaging charges must be fair. Surely Holister are making a profit from this post and package cost?
  6. ok so after a very apologetic phone call from CPW saying that they mistakenly credited the account with the £10 SAR fee, today I received the recording. On listening to the CD it immediately becomes apparant that the recording is of another customer, Mr W who is with Orange through the Carphone Warehouse!!! At the end of the conversation Mr W gives his full name and address and Telephone Number!!!!! Think the CPW may have made a boo boo!!! Gonna send it back recorded delivery. Do you think I should tell them that I will be letting Mr W know what has happened (even if I have no intention of doing so!!) Gets me thinking that when we were told previously that they had listened to the conversation and were happy that we had agreed to the contract that they had listened to the wrong conversation!
  7. just written the letter reminding them that the SAR is overdue and will send recorded delivery in the morning (and keep the receipt safe). Hadn't really thought of contacting O2 until I read your earlier post - any suggestions as to what I should put in a letter to them?
  8. CPW cashed the cheque on 17th March 2011 - so on to the next step now.
  9. okay thanks guys will check statements and keep you posted

My Friend does not believe this account his hers (she has an ex partner who keeps ordering goods using her address and previously rented out her home? She doesn't know where to start to try and unravel this mess? any advice?
  11. okay so the 40days is up - no response from CPW - slight hitch is though that I have misplaced the receipt for the recoreded deilvery (doh!) What should I do now?
  12. I have been advised I have underpaid tax for 2008/9 of over £2000 due to a company. During this period we had contacted them to inform them but no action was taken. We have already written to them asking them to cancel this underpayment as they did not act on the information provided by myself. We have had no response to that letter but have received a new PAYE code showing the underpayment. What more can I do?
  13. Surely a well known petrol station like texaco should have some sort of procedure in place for this situation though? Do you think it would be worth even taking it up with the manager or head office?
  14. A friend of mine called at the texaco petrol station this morning to fill up on her way to work. She went in to pay and realised that she had forgotten her purse and was unable to pay, the cashier asked if she had any items of value on her. She told him that she had her mobile in the car, the cashier took her mobile (blackberry curve ) and kept it until she returned with payment. I was horrified by this and was curious to know if this was even legal? When it happened to me in the past all I had to do was leave my contact details.
  15. Okay so can I clarify (sorry if this has already been answered in this thread). I have points on my license that I have had for a little over 4years, Can I get these removed off my license now even though y insurance company asks me to declare any points in the last 5 years??
  16. Hi all, I have updated my circumstance with the tax credits as my partner is now self employed. They have asked me for a copy of his umique taxpayers reference number (which I have), but they have also asked for any adverts he has put out and invoices for any work he has carried out? He has only had business cards printed so far? Will recepits do he has not got invoices. He has only started his business in August and at the moment is running at a small loss. . I can only give estimates of his actual income etc at the mo as that is all we have to go by until his bookkeeper does hos accounts next month? I just don't know what I need to send, what I should send? Its all too complicated for me!!
  17. They were told that they could not cancel until July when contract ends and if they come put early they would have to pay a penalty - the person on the phone would not disclose the amount!
  18. Sorry its not sky tv but the sky internet and phone line!
  19. A friend of mine has recently seperated from her partner - they have sold their house and she is moving to rented accomadation whilst her ex-partner moves in with his parents. They have a sky tv account in his name but payments come out of her account. She wants to take the sky box etc with her to the renated accomadation. He has contacted Sky to change the name on the account but they won't let him do so and advised him to just change the address and to keep his name on the account. She is not happy about this obviously. Any thoughts?
  20. Sorry for my delay in update, just as I was about to write to head office I got an email from John Common general Manager who has agreed to refund and has offered my sister another VIP night - so result. Thanks for your advice.
  21. My partner had a mobile contract with O2 through the cpw. In Nov 2009 he received a telephone call from cpw asking him if he wanted to upgrade. My partner told the guy that he did not want to agree to anything over the phone as he wanted to check out the phones availabe etc before getting tied into a contract. He asked the guy to put any details in the post for him to consider. We did not receive any details until Feb 2010 when a cheque for £50 arrived. We took it in to our Local cpw branch and they advised us the cheque was part of the offer my partner had signed up to in Nov. The shop assitant told us that he was now on a 24mth contract for less mins and texts than he had previoulsy had and without a new handset. The shop assistant gave me the name of the person who had completed the upgrade and we wrote a letter of complaint. We received a phone call saying that they had listened to the recording of the phone call and they are satisfied that my partner did agree to the upgrade although we know for certain he did not. Time has gone by and wil alot of other things going on we are only know getting around to dealing with this again.... So I have written a letter and enclosed a £10 cheque requesting a copy of the phone call. But in the meantime I would appreciate any advice as to what should be the next step should they not provide the recording or if they do and its clearly shows that we did not agree then what do we do then?
  22. I have got copies of the email sent to my sister that states what she could expect for her money and the emails I sent to complain.
