  1. Thanks again antone, that's very interesting, im going to send a FOI request as well as the complaint letters, people need to know where they stand
  2. Of course your right, it shouldn't matter if you need support whether or not you are disabled
  3. Thank you antone, is there a website of this ruling as i would like to include it in my complaint letter
  4. Hi there, does anyone know of a new policy in the job centers where a disabled person is not allowed to bring a carer to interviews? Ive been in the WRAG group for 4 years, i was then sent to Ingeus on a work program...............now for me to get to the Ingeus office is a £64 quid round journey by cab which i refused to pay and so did Ingeus, so i had telephone appointments for a year. I got a mandatory letter to attend an Ingeus appointment at my local job center which is a £10 round journey. I am disabled, i need a carer,my daughter was my acting carer for the day, we arrived at the job center on time and was told by a rather rude nasty little man that my daughter (my carer) would not be allowed to enter the building and would have to sit in the foyer, i explained to him she was my carer but he insisted she was not allowed to accompany me and that he would take me in the lift and deposit me in the Ingeus interview room, to which i asked him "so if i need the toilet you will be willing to help?" he replied that the Ingeus advisers were health care professionals and would help me ! I then raised my voice asking him to provide written proof of the Job center policy where it states that a disabled person's carer is not allowed on the premises to accompany them to an interview, all this time he was holding out his arm in front of my daughter to stop her from moving while i was holding onto her arm. A rather worried looking woman was scurrying over to us, when the security guard saw her he mumbled that it was the Ingeus advisers who had told him only to allow the person named on the form and no one else! I then told him to contact Ingeus and tell them i was not allowed into the building with my carer and that i was leaving the premises. Eventually my daughter was allowed upstairs with me and when i asked the Ingeus advisers they said it was job center policy not to allow any one else into the building! even a carer! Needless to say the interview was a complete waste of time and the security guard then accompanied me and my daughter back to the foyer.............. What is going on when your carer is not allowed to care for you? i have put a complaint in and asked for the written rules as to why a disabled person is not allowed to have their carer present at interviews.....but i won't hold my breath, has this happened to anyone else?
