  1. I don't want to make any kind of arrangement and pay this on the never never. I'm fortunate to have a good job and can afford to pay the fine. If there's nothing I can do, I'll pay the fine. Just a shame how misplacing a letter for a week has cost me a lot of money when I've done nothing wrong in the first place.
  2. I didn't enter a plea though, so not changing anything. I really don't know enough about this but surely it's not right how they can go charging over £300 and there's absolutely nothing I can do.
  3. Reason for appealing is because there is no law that says I have to send the logbook back via a tracked service. My responsibility was to put a stamp on the envelope and put it through a postbox from what I understand. So because I misplaced a single letter it's cost me £310 and that's it?
  4. Any help available on here? Received the 'Notice of fine and collection order' letter today from the Court.
  5. Hi On the 14th June my brother was using my van and on his way back from Bedfordshire to Liverpool. On the A14 Junction 1-2, the van had a blowout and both wheels came off (twin axle) at the back passengers side. van was on the hard shoulder with a bit of the van on a slant blocking a part of Lane 1. The holes where the bolts go in the tyre had expanded so it needed 2 new wheels so couldn't just arrange for a replacement tyre fitting. My brother rang me and I immediately arranged for Green Flag to recover the van off the carriageway. 45 minutes - 1hr was the estimated time. In the meantime, the Highway Agency tuned up and organised their own recovery. I spoke to the officer on the phone and he said it's first come first served (his recovery or ours). Because it was blocking part of the lane, they had to get it off as soon as. Low and behold, their recovery vehicle turned up first (beating Green Flag by less than 5 minutes). The van was taken to an storage/impound and I had to pay £250 + £20 1 day storage. I then had to pay a further £370 to get it recovered back to Liverpool. Do I have any right to appeal this? Thanks Mike
  6. Hi All Hoping someone here can help. I sold a van around 6 months ago. Logbook was signed by the new owner and myself etc and it was posted out the next day. Couple months later I receive the normal letter with a fine failing to notify them. I did not respond to the letter but did ring them explaining the logbook was sent out already. 2 Weeks ago I received a "No ASL Required" Requisition from DVLA/Court stating I had to go to the court on the Wednesday. To be completely honest, I misplaced the letter and did not enter a plea and did not show up at court. My stupid fault yes. I phoned the court today to get the results and I've been fined £200 + £20 (surcharge) + £90 (court costs). This is all because they are claiming they never received the logbook. Is there a letter I can send the court or do I just pay the fine? Thanks, Mike
