  1. It's not a main dealer, but a second hand dealer. John Harrison in Nottingham. Thought they had a good reputation.
  2. I will be doing, is there anyone else you think might want to know apart from them and trading standards? What other bodies would have jurisdiction?
  3. Not yet. To be honest I'm not that bothered about having it as I've read the RAC warranties are pretty dud. I know I can use the consumer act to deal with any faults as it's a dealership. It's more the fact they seem to be using this to up-sell dishonestly.
  4. Hi, I am in the process of buying a new car. On their website it said their cars come with BuySure. Complimentary Breakdown cover for 12 months and with 6 months warranty. This was on their own website and the auto trader ad for the car. Please see attached. When I went in to buy, I was told the warranty would be £300 to extend to 12 months. I have complained and the most they would give me is the breakdown cover, not the warranty. I plan to go down today to have it out with them. I'm kinda tied in as I have paid for my number plate to be switched. I have read today on the RAC site that cars sold by their partner dealers (such as the one I am dealing with) should come with the breakdown cover and a minimum of 3 months warranty (also attached). So they are still screwing me by telling me it only comes with 28 days warranty. Am I misreading or understanding this or are they using this tactic to up-sell warranty. I plan to go in and let them know that am considering reporting them to auto trader, RAC and trading standards but before I do I want to make sure I don't have this wrong. Would you take it this way also?
  5. Did you pay the money back when it was discovered? If not then of course they can claim it back. Have they letters etc before asking for it back?
  6. Hi, I have recently started work with an agency. I have been accruing holiday pay and about 3 weeks after I started I took a days holiday for preplanned arrangements. I had accrued a days pay in that time so was expecting that day to paid in the following weeks pay pack in place of the hours I should have worked. Instead nothing was paid at all. When I queried this with them , this is the reply I got "Due to working time regulations if you are over the average amount of hours worked in a week we are not allowed to pay for holidays within the same week. This is unfortunately the law and nothing we are able to override in anyway. I apologise that this has been the case. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any further questions or concerns." In that same week I did two days overtime, either side of my main shift, which meant I had worked over my 44 hour shift, but that shouldn't effect me being paid for my holiday as I lost wages for that day. The holiday pay is meant to replace that missing pay. With my previous two employers if I took holiday I was always paid for it providing I had holiday to use, regardless of whether any overtime was done in that same pay period. So I know this reply is BS, as there no law against it. Can I just confirm with you guys I am right in thinking that this is wrong. I have now got 2.20 day accrued and have another days holiday this week but am I ever going to be paid my holiday pay? Do they expect to just sit there for ever?
  7. The problem is proving what was said at the time 4 years ago, would be very difficult and not worth the risk. It plays 4k on the TV, just not via HDMI as you need. It's a tough one but I personally wouldn't risk as it's word vs word. Just chalk it down to experience.
  8. I think you will struggle to prove it with so long passing between delivery and the warranty passing. A report wouldn't prove where the damage occurred, just that it is damaged. If it were delivered damaged to me I would have been straight back onto them. Might just have to put this one down to experience seeing as you kept forgetting about it.
  9. Hi all, I ordered things yesterday online, I selected next day delivery, but when I have just checked now, they aren't estimated to arrive until Friday? Something I ordered today is also due to arrive Friday and not tomorrow. All were prime eligible products. So I jumped onto their webchat, and spoke to someone. Turns out they have suyspended next day delivery until they can catch up from Xmas and get their drivers back. In fact here is a snip from the web chat. "Ojas: I can truly understand your concern however as you must have been aware that we had loads of deliveries on Christmas season so the inventory at our fulfillment centers is revising so they are not getting shipped on the same day as they are placed. This is the reason the next day delivery is extended however please be assured that it will be in its original form once again in 2 to 3 days as all of our carriers are also returning back to work. Me: hmm so it's down to the fact you are behind on deliveries, that's fine as long as you say that Ojas: So please be assured that the prime one day delivery service will be in effect within a couple of days." Isn't this a breach of contract? A warning for anyone else expecting their deliveries they day after they are placed as usual.
  10. Did you damage it? is that why Samsung want £56 to repair it as it's not covered by manufacturer's warranty?
  11. It's free for the first month, then you have to cancel. I always take, especially when taking things home in case of accidental damage on the trip or getting it in the house. Then I cancel it a few days later. I'm covered for the month and then it doesn't renew the next. Simples.
  12. I don't think a reservation of this type is any form of contract. How many people reserve something and then don't turn up to collect it? If the reservation meant it was paid for online, to collect in store, which the OP should have done really, then of course that is a contract.
  13. I upgraded my sons Hp stream to Windows 10 with no issues, same size storage in it.
  14. I highly doubt it will be a sea gate ssd
  15. Won't restaurants have to the minimum living wage too? If so, people who choose to do that job will be paid fair wage and won't rely on tips anyway.
  16. That is ridiculous. The fact they having a hearing given the circumstances is crazy. Nothing will happen once they realise, surely to God. I assume they already know the details on the incident?
  17. I'm going to wait and see what their fix involves and what impact that will have on the cars performance. That's what VW are trying to figure out now. If for example my fuel economy is going be lower as a result of the fix, then I will not be happy and will expect something to be done as a result.
  18. Okay fine, thanks guys. Looks like I've fixed it for now, just pulled and cleaned the fuse. Seems to have been okay since. I've read that the vw group have offered to buy back cars in the USA and also give compensation for others. It will be interesting to see how it goes down in this country once they have done their testing.
  19. I'm sure there is some thing that they are not covered on their insurance if you have notified them you aren't fit for work. That's why you need a fit note from the doctor saying that you ready and able to resume your duties after illness. It's basically illegal to make you go in when you have told them you are unwell. Don't go in, it's not your problem that they haven't crossed trained all staff to cover for absences.
  20. No not yet. The last letter they said said they were testing the fixes to see what impact it had on the running of the car.
  21. Well the car is going back to skoda for the emissions fix at some point. I might just wait and ask skoda to fix it as compensation for the emissions scandal. So you guys think I have no claim with Bristol street?
  22. Yeah I told them at the time when they tried to sell me a years warranty that I didn't need it and would be covered under SOGA. Paid £6500 for the car.
  23. Bit of background on this issue. Bought a 11 plate car in Feb 2015 from Bristol Street Motors, had a few issues from purchase which was mainly a problem with the tyre pressure going off but unable to reset it. It went back to Skoda (paid for by Bristol Street) and had an ECU reset. There was another issue with the car revving up when braking which would clear when I pressed the clutch. I told the manager of the service depot in Bristol Street about this ongoing issue and he said he would phone me back to book it back in. He never did. As it was an intermittent issue and didn't want to be back forth yet again, I left it. Fast forward to now, and my cruise control has stopped working. A common fault on these cars is a clutch switch, which would also explain the revving up when slowing down, according to several posts on Skoda forums. My question is would I have a claim with Bristol Street, even though they only supplied 3 months warranty. I know I am likely to have to prove that the faults are related and it was likely an underlying issue that was there when sold. I want to go down first and see what they say (likely to **** off I guess) but thought I would ask here first to see what you guys would do and be armed with any relevant info before hand. Thanks in advance DY
