Great thanks for all the advice it's really appreciated. I shall let you know what happens at the cab

Thank you for the reply gee, I have checked out the link you sent and it looks like it could be a possibility. Does anybody know if I got a solicitor, would he or she be able to help my case, ie the mitigating circumstances?

I will. Thanks again

Thank you for your thoughts, I will see the cab as soon as I can. I do have children. I would like to be able to tell my wife but I know it would destroy our marriage without a doubt, obviously if I'm looking at something like jail I will have no choice but until I am more informed of the possible outcome I don't think it will help the situation. She has very strong views on things like this.

Hi thanks for the response rebel, I havnt got a solicitor. Or seen anybody about the situation tbh although I am not in debt anymore I have no spare income to pay for advice and help. And the monies stopped last year so there's none left. I was told that I would have to pay back which I understand and accept but I keep looking on blogs and have noticed that people actually go to jail for this sort of thing and now I'm out of my mind with worry

Can anybody help me please. Let me start off by saying I'm utterly ashamed by what I've done and I am full of remorse. But I am shaking with worry as to what will happen to me. I was being paid carers allowance for a relative I was looking after. eventually the relative passed away. But the money was still being paid into the account I looked after for 2 years totalling just over £10k. And because I was heavily in debt and struggling with finances I helped myself to the money over that period. I was arrested a few days ago, I admitted straight away that I had taken the money and was interviewed under caution, then released on bail. I'm so ashamed that I just can't tell my wife and family or my friends. Do you think that I will be sent to jail for this? I have to report to the local police station once a week to sign in but I have never been in trouble before and I ain't sure what the process is. The officers said I will have to pay it back which I completely understand but I'm just worried I will be sent to prison. Whilst I was taking the money I actually declared myself bankrupt and have since got my financial woes back on track
