  1. Now why doesn't that surprise me lol....You would think someone disabled and on benefits might not be able to afford a dropped kerb, otherwise they may well have done it by now and wouldn't be asking for one in the first place. I'm not being offensive towards you, in case you misunderstood my sneering at the council. Just wanted you to know I appreciate very much your input
  2. THnaks all for your help, the headlight has been replaced and the car passed its MOT, yay.....now does anyone know how to close a thread, or is it just left open? lol Thanks to everyone who posted........cheers guys x
  3. How do I apply for a parking bay outside my house? I know I have to approach the council, but I wondered if anyone knew what documents or evidence I would need to warrant one in the first place. I have various diagnoses, and have just been awarded Higher Rate Mobility for DLA and have received a Blue Badge. Would I need to have a car to warrant a parking bay? I could it be for visitors who take me out? Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks THNX4THT
  4. I might well be in the wrong place, but I have to say Consumer Forum Website has been a great help to me, It's been a great aid when trying to work out stuff about ATOS and ESA and even the car. The only problem I have is when posting a new thread, you're limited to 2 tags, so if you're title is rather long, it's quite hard to chose which words to use to get your point accross Apart from that, I don't know how I managed before without Consumer Forum before!!! Three cheers for whoever developed it!!! Thnx4tht
  5. Thanks for the info. bit of a relief from thinking it was gonna cost hundreds. Cheers once again
  6. Thanks for the info on changing a bulb, but the problem is actually the light aim of the headlight. As you're probably aware you can raise and lower the head light beam. The mechanism that makes this possible is not working and because the aim of the headlight can not be altered, it failed its MOT. At least I know how to change a bulb on our Renault. Its actually a Renault Laguna Mk1 1.6 16 valve RT. Yr 1999 If you have "how to mend or replace" headlight or aimer for headlight on your you tube, can you give me your you tube name, so I can watch that video. I would have mentioned the model and year of our car, but I've had many failed attempts posting my question on this forum and I only managed to post this one as I'd taken the year and model out of the thread title. Cheers
  7. The headlamp aim isn't working on our Renault Laguna. Is it just the case of changing the headlamp or is there going to be some huge job which will cost more than the cars worth, around £400?
  8. The reference to Instagram was about Instagram itself. When you reach a million followers on Instagram, you become Instagram famous. ATOS having 712,000 claimants that haven't yet been dealt with, is rather close to 1 million. It was a comparison. Sorry for any confusion.
  9. Thank you, it wasn't my intent to make light of ATOS and peoples experiences. Having been in the assessment period for 6 months and have now been told my case has only just been transferred to ATOS themselves and being told the Drs at ATOS don't work to a time scale, I'm feeling a little bitter, to say the least,
  10. Perhaps its one of those scare mongering tactics some people use...to what end, I have no idea, but its worked. He doesn't want to talk to me about it any more and hates money, even if he may need it to survive.
  11. Sorry if I caused offence. Being Aautistic, I dont always see the consequences of what Im saying. Apologise xx
  12. This is the one time when being homeless is possibly thankful, no housing benefit or council tax benefit to concern oneself with, but thanks for the info....
  13. Well done ATOS, you're almost instagram famous, with your 712,000 stranded claimants, still waiting to find out if they qualify! lol
  14. My ex was in receipt of Incapacity. He was assessed by ATOS for ESA. They deemed him fit for work. So they cancelled his Incapacity and ESA claim. He was told he could apply for a reconsideration but wouldn't be able to get any benefit, as JSA would mean he was fit for work. He had to sign on, because he had no money. The reconsideration was cancelled as he had applied for JSA Since then his doctor has given him a sick note for 3 months stating he is unfit for work. His JSA claim has been closed and he has been told to apply for ESA, but the Job Centre have told him his application will be bounced back to ATOS who have already stated he is fit for work unless he has a new condition, which wasn't included in the original ESA application, but it is likely his application for ESA will be turned down anyway. Even though his reconsideration has been cancelled, the job centre say that the ATOS decision still stands. He has also been told by JobCentre Plus, that the sick not can be overturned by ATOS, ESA or JSA. His only choice left is to claim JSA, but as his Dr has said he is unfit for work for 3 months, he wont be entitled to any JSA. He is in a catch 22 position. He has no money. The government really didn't think this one through, but whilst we debate that and the fact on the news tonight, its been stated 712,000 people are waiting for their ESA claims to be completed, does anyone have any idea as to what, if any, benefit he can claim? I understand that Income Support and Incapacity benefit no longer exists to new claimants. Please anyone, can you help? His depression and anxiety as you can imagine is going through the roof.
  15. I have a Social Worker and they pay for me to have a carer through a care company. I rarely hear from her, I've seen her once and spoken on the phone twice lol. I hadn't even thought of charities....Thank you, I'll speak to my carer and get in touch with my Social Worker......Should I tell ESA that I've now been registered disabled? Perhaps I should mention it to my Social Worker and if Im registered would I be able to get a disability social worker? But thanks very much for the info
  16. Yeah my ex, when he split with his wife, was told he didn't need a cooker, he could make do with a microwave....I wonder if DWP could "make do" with a microwave??? lol
  17. I guess being Agoraphobic might put a laundrette out of their minds lol, well theres always hoping! But thanks for the info, I'll ring ESA tomorrow x
  18. I'm in week 25 of waiting for my ATOS medical assessment (ie 12 weeks past the 13 week period)....My washing machine has died and I need a new mattress because I've had to resort to sleeping on the sofa rather than my bed. It says that if you are in receipt of Income related ESA you can claim for a budgeting loan. My question is this....whilst on the assessment period, are you on Income Related ESA? or will I have to wait till they have decided which group I am on before I can request a budgeting loan? Any information would be greatly appreciated
  19. Youre a star, thanks for the information, I'll pass it onto him.
  20. I really considered the possibility of attending this "Looking Forward Event" and it made me feel instantly sick and brought on a panic attack, and that was just from thinking about it. I emailed them, with the email address they provided. I sent the following : To whom it may concern I have received a letter inviting me to attend a "Looking Forward Event" on Thursday 12th June, 2014 at Canterbury Jobcentre Plus, as I am in receipt of ESA. I am writing to confirm I am unable to attend. I have various diagnoses including, High Functioning Autism, Anxiety,Agoraphobia and Non Epileptic Attack Disorder. I would not be able to cope with the high level of anxiety that I would experience if I attended this event. I struggle meeting new people I do not know, being in a reasonably crowded area, being in a place I don't know well, having to communicate with strangers, even if my carer attended with me. I would become extremely distressed, liable to experience a panic attack, cry and possibly as a result of my distress, I would quite likely pass out. ( Non Epileptic Attack Disorder is when someone experiences too much stress which the brain can not cope with, and as a protection mechanism, the brain shuts down and the sufferer passes out). In my experience of these occasions, I usually pass out for a few hours rather than minutes. Unlike epilepsy when there's a warning, "an aura" prior to a seizure there is no warning with a N.E.A.D. I've not had a reply to say they have received it and I didnt get a Mailer Demon to say I'd sent it to the wrong place, so I guess I sent it correctly. Do they not give acknowledgements to say they've received your email? Even an automated message? I'm worried they don't know I wont be attending and it's causing me a lot of stress worrying if they know or not. Please help!!
  21. Even if he's been turned down for ESA (Incapacity no longer existing) he will be able to claim ESA?
  22. My ex was on incapacity and he was told he was fit for work, and now claims JSA. His doctor has given him a sick note "unfit for work" for 3 months. I can't imagine he'll still get JSA, I may well be wrong....What will he be able to claim anad will it be at a reduced amount? The other thing I wanted to ask on his behalf, he has to sign weekly although he is currently staying at his daughters address. I thought you had to sign weekly if you didnt have a safe address to receive communication or possible giros, (its paid into his account). Any ideas as to why he would have to sign on weekly?
  23. That's very true, I can claim the fares back, but you have to have the money up front to be able to claim them and in my experience of claiming fares, they'll give you the cheapest route as payment, not what it actually cost you. I tried to reinstate the appointment, but alas its been given to someone else. I guess yesterday was not a day for decisions having just broken up with my partner of 6 years yesterday morning. All over the place, just isnt quite it! lol
  24. Thank you for your post. I took my daughter out of school, because it wasn't right for her and have home educated since Feb 2013. I guess my daughters needs are complicated by my Autism. That might sound like a strange statement, but for anyone that understands autism, its hard enough to bring yourself up let alone bring up children. Officials do terrify me and the thought of not getting it right for my daughter is just as terrifying. My life is a complete mess and this is not what I want for my daughter. She had an appointment tomorrow for Eating Disorder Clinic, but I couldn't admit to not having the cab fare to get her to and from the appointment, its about £20 round trip. Im also Agoraphobic and going out is really hard, with all the help that I do get, why can't anyone extend that help to my daughter, I can't put my Autism and Agoraphobia on hold, because she has an appointment. I just dont want to fail her, because of my problems
  25. The problem with her starting work, is that relatively new law, where school students have to complete 6th form or attend 6th form college if they were born after a particular year. I'll have to speak to the college anyway, because when we made college support aware of her difficulties, A.N. wasn't a problem then, as it is now. She's already registered with Connextions, not that they've been much help. I'm hoping college may work better than school, only because the environment is nothing like school and her b/f and friends will be attending there. Fingers Crossed!!
