  1. Have you thought about getting help with sorting this out for you, There are many companies
  2. When i read the OP, i got the impression that the locks had been changed shortly after the tennants death but it has actually taken 8 months That is 8 months that the son hasn't made any contact at all with the HA so as far as the HA is concerned the flat has been empty all that time I have a few questions Has there already been a successsion of the tenancy in the past Why would the council tell the tenant to pay council tax as a single occupancy knowing it was another adults main home Why and for how long was housing benefit paying the full rent despite a working adult living there The poster said that "He and I have tried daily to call but never get to first spot on queue before other constraints take over" so for 8 months you didn't think it was worth waiting a bit longer on hold to actually speak to someone ? As the mother had had the tenancy since 1977 it is possible the son has always lived there, If that is so, How long has the son lived there over the age of 18 and working, That would give an idea of the possible liability they would face if they were prosecuted for benefit fraud As the son or poster have had no contact with the HA in 8 months, They wont know what process the HA have gone through to regain control of the flat, All we can say is it wasn't quick Personally i think the son should cut his losses and go find somewhere else to live, The deposit on a new flat would be hugely cheaper than a possible prosecution for benefit fraud and the possibility of a criminal record
  3. I think if your friend approches the HA to say that the flat was their main home even though they worked away a lot of the time, Questions will be asked as to why housing benefit have been paying the rent, That could open a huge can of worms
  4. It doesn't really make any odds, I bought my car from Available car 2 years ago and it was 2 years old I bought a 3 year warranty with it, I have tried to claim twice, Both times i wasn't successful I wont be buying a warranty with my next car
  5. Whats this about ? Lasted for a good while
  6. Why would you do that ? Do you think you will get more money if you hold the car to ransom It is costing them to collect your car and deliver it to the salvage yard, I'm pretty sure if they deliver it to your home you would have to then pay for it to be collected later
  7. I smoked for almost 40 years and have wanted to give up for a long time Ive tried in the past and piled the weight on until i started again 4 months ago i bougth a good proper vape and have not had a cigarette since, I now even make my own juice, all the stuff cost me about £70 but now i have enough to last me at least 2 years, So the cost is tiny Best of it is that in the 4 months i have not had a cigarette, I have put no weight on at all, And i feel so much better, My breathing is way better And the black jack flavoured juice that i use tastes better than any ciggy that i ever smoked
  8. I get that, But i have buildings and contents insurance for my home, I have never claimed on it and i'm happy that i have not had to So insurance companies have made money from me and have never had to pay anything out So should i deem it as pointless and cancel it ? Gap insurance is just the same, I am covering myself for a possible future large pay out if something goes wrong, I see idiots on the road every day, There is a good chance that one day one of them is going to drive into my car
  9. You say that quite often Try saying that to someone who's car is written off 2 years into their finance agreement and after The insurance company has paid out direct to the finance company, They now have no car and still owe thousands It happened to me years ago, I actually had Gap insurance and didn't know, My car was hit from behind and written off, I got a letter saying i still owed £700 after the insurance had paid out, And included was a form to sign for the gap to cover it That's when i found out gap insurance was a good thing
  10. Not too sure how you could circumvent the consultation process The purpose of would be because the lease holders would ultimately bear the cost of expensive repair bills If the management company decided to replace the roof and it cost £50,000 i think you would want to be consulted on that, And not just face a big bill And i doubt the other residents would want to miss on a consultation for the sake of one resident
  11. If they have issued her with a section 21 eviction notice, Then they do not need a reason to evict her Did she pay a deposit, It it in one of the prescribed deposit schemes ? Does she have an up to date gas safety certificate ? If not then the section 21 would be invalid If she doesn't leave by the time stated on the section 21, Then they will have to take her to court for possession and if she doesn't leave by the date the court gives, They will have to instruct bailiffs to remove her, That could all take months If she leaves before then, Then the council will just say she has made herself intentionally homeless, Once the bailiffs have removed her, Then the council will have a duty of care to help her
  12. I should imagine they wear out the road faster because electric cars weigh more than petrol cars due to the weight of the batteries
  13. I had to Bring my passport to work last year to show i had a right to work in the UK I have been working for the company for 30 years
  14. personally i would have done anything with it other than sell it to them I think they have taken you for a mug
  15. If they admitted the offence, I really can't see much that can be done
  16. But also said he wanted to keep the car at the end, With normal HP that wouldn't even be a question, He also said Hire finance rather than hire purchace But i could be wrong
  17. That isn't strictly true I am assuming this is a PCP contract where you pay payments for a set time and then you can either pay the final GMFV (Guaranteed (Minimum) Future Value at the end, Or hand the car back, Rather than a normal HP contract where you make the payments and the car is yours at the end If it is a PCP contract, And you hand the car back at the end, A missing service will affect the value of the car and you would face a bill when you hand it back, Just the same as if there was damage to the car, Or you had gone over the agreed milage If you plan to make the final payment to keep the car, I can't see it having any affect other that reducing it value when you come to sell it
  18. Then you should go to the court and ask to do a statutory declaration on the basis that the correspondence was sent to the wrong address and you knew nothing about it That should then allow you to pay the original fine
  19. Why would a seizure be on shakey grounds If you are using your car to say deliver a pizza and you get stopped by the police and are found to not have the correct insurance, If they allow you to drive on after the stop, You still have the pizza in the car and so are still driving without the correct cover There are plenty of instances including here on CAG where cars are taken for business use without a business policy
  20. I have business use with my insurance, Not because i really need it, But with it added it was exactly the same price
  21. I had an Additions account for from the beginning The fee covered a few things, I had a £1000 overdraft limit, But the first £300 was fee free, You only paid anything above the account fee if you went over the £300 It was always clear what came with the account, I received a huge pack that that covered everything, It provided Mobile phone insurance, Travel insurance and breakdown cover, The breakdown cover was personal so would cover you in any car you was in, Whether the driver or passenger There were other benefits too, Card protection and even a will writing service I was always happy with what i was getting for my fee There was no fee to review anything
  22. So from reading the original post, The car still has a full service history, Just not a main dealer service history For its service history to be on Mercedes's system, Then it must have been serviced at a Mercedes approved garage using original parts i doubt there would be a huge price difference, Perhaps £50 a service
  23. if it was defaulted more than 6 years ago then it will have dropped off your credit report never to return If you have checked your credit report and it is not there, Then there is a good chance it has gone
