  1. Thanks Brigadier, I will do just that. I wish Lloyds could have just advised me this! Yes it is very unpleasant. The thing that makes me so cross is that both my grandparents had to go into nursing homes due to their physical and mental capacity. I was unaware of their financial situation from the enduring POA, who had stated they didn't have a lot. What frustrates me is that they could have spent their last years in the Hilton of nursing homes as opposed to the mediocre homes they ended up in! They were such nice people and this just makes this even more upsetting. Thank you so much for your replies Jem
  2. Thanks for your prompt reply Brigadier, There are a number of banks involved unfortunately, but the large transfer referred to is from Lloyds. It appears that the person charged with looking after my grandparents finances in their latter years has used at least £250,000 for their own gain. I just cant accept that there wouldn't be any records kept at all. Surely all financial transactions leave a trail? Thank again Jem
  3. Hi, apologies if I'm posting this in the wrong section but I couldn't find a section that seemed to deal with my queries, although I'm sure there probably is one. I am going through some unsavoury legal action with a family member who abused their role as POA with my grandparents. Money that should have been used for their benefit was systematically removed from their bank accounts. I have discovered this when going through probate. Some of these amounts I have managed to trace, but there is one particularly large money transfer that was moved abroad 7 years ago of which the bank say they will no longer have records for as they are not legally required to hold them for longer than 6 years. I appreciate this may well be the case, but surely there must be some records somewhere! Lloyds don't seem to be able to point me in the right direction and just apologise that they don't have them, but there must be some precedent for this type of thing when suspected fraud and misdirection have been involved? Can anybody advise me on any suggestions? Many thanks Jem
