  1. I agree i to have had fun and games with this company. They have a knack of lying through there teeth. I run a limited company and we rented an industrial unit which was proving too expensive so decided to move and work from home. We owed approximately £5K in NDR. This was passed to Equita by our local council. I immediately got the number for Equita and contacted them before we had any correspondence from them so as to avoid any charges. The prinicpal debt was £5225.00+ a fee of £110.00 charged by Equita making a total of £5335.00. I agreed to pay £235.00 to bring the balance down and did this immediately. Since then we have been making regular payments to Equita to reduce the debt. I contacted the bailiff earlier in the week to make a payment and to check the balance. Upon checking the balance i was informed that we owed pretty much the same figure as when it was passed to Equita despite the fact that we had paid over £1000K. As you can imagine this was a real shock. I wrote directly to the council concerned regarding the matter and they responded with a timeline of contact and action that had been taken by Equita including correspodance dates, visits by bailiffs and also attendance with a van to remove goods. It was also stated that a levy had been placed on a vehicle. As we work from home and any vehicles we do have are personally owned i cannot see how Equita can levy on anything. We to date have also never received any correspondence from them, even any paperwork through the door from bailiff visits. It appears on the face of it a compete fabrication of the truth is being fed to the council concerned. I have today emailed the council asking them to investigate and also provide details of the vehicle levied on. Based on Equita's tactics it will probably be next doors car! I will of in due course register my complaint to CIVEA. People beware of Equita and check everything twice! I will let you know the response i receive from the council concerned.
