  1. You can go to ABTA and complain about the travel agent. the flight shouldnt have been sold in the first place or should I say the facts relating to exit from Egypt after 3 months should have been shared with the customer. I believe that your friend does stand a chance to receive atleast some gesture of goodwill from teh travel agent if not complete refund.
  2. If you have the proofs then you have a strong case. Just send BA a formal complaint including all proofs and tell them that you will take legal recourse in case they fail to refund your monies. You were indeed wrongly charged if hand bags were allowed. BTW, did you book direct with airline. if you booked with teh agent, you could involve them too. good Luck.
  3. Sorry to hear of your experience. I would say no matter how lucrative the offer is one should insist on an email confirmation before paying a deposit. I m sorry but you are not completely without the blame. But surprisingly, I have booked with southall a number of times and dont remember even a single occasion when they didnt send me a confirmation email. They do not book without receiving a written approval from the clients. sheer bad luck for you. Try to call them up and my experience says they are likely to resolve it (if you havent already got it sorted). Good luck.
