1. I today spoke with the FOS. They are unable to help. They checked their database and will only take on GE Money cases post January 2005. They referred me to the FLA, which I've probably left it too late for. I will give them a call tomorrow. Thanks.
2. Loan was taken out over the phone, nothing face to face, documents in post. Igroup is at the top of credit agreement, Greenhill Finance apparently introduced, There is what looks like an application form with a logo TLC in the top right. PPI application is on igroup paper with TLC written in the introducer box. So I guess i group sold the PPI. Reasons we believe loan was missold (from complaint letter): Thanks
3. ref 6 month time scale I've just found this: from http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/publications/technical_notes/six-month-time-limit.htm On the greenhill finance final letter is just says it's outside of the FOS remit. On the GE money it says again that it falls outside the FOS jurisdiction. It does say however about complaining to Finance and Leasing Association within 6 months, which I never did. Infact I don't remember reading that otherwise I probably would have done. Anyway, it's outside of 6 months now. ? Is it worth a call to the FOS?
4. No I never did refer to FOS, never believed it would count - have I potentially jeopardised this claim? igroup loans limited is at the top of the Credit Agreement and it was them that we believe sold the loan, not Greenhill Finance.
5. Hi, I was on here some months ago (Jun '13) trying to make a PPI claim from a secured loan/mortgage taken out in 2002, £10k + £1.6k PPI with GE Money. The account went into arrears in it's lifetime but last year it was paid off. So charge has been removed from Property. GE Money refused our complaint, saying that Greenhill Finance introduced the loan. Greenhill Finance response on 28/06/13 was that the mortgage was arranged with I group loans ltd. They then go on to say the loan was pre 2005 so no FOS remit etc. because I felt we had hit a brickwall I attempted to instruct Emcas to deal with it, thinking that left to me we would get nothing so at least we had a chance of getting 60% back. they refused because they said a payment plan was set up in the lifetime of the loan and that therefore if they won any monies, GE money would retain it and we would be left with a fee for Emcas. This doesn't ring right to me. Why would GE money keep any money? So I am thinking about instructing another PPE claim firm but need to clarify we wont end up out of pocket. Many thanks. S
6. You know more about the legalities than me so I shall leave it.
7. They took over from EDF and are owned by a Chinese company/consortium which also own three (mobile network) i am led to believe. http://www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk/internet/en/about-us/documents/UKPN_Compliance_Statement_v1_(April_2011).pdf
8. http://www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk/ They are a DNO for the east of England. http://www.energynetworks.org/info/faqs/electricity-distribution-map.html - nothing dodgy about them in my experience. I am an electrician and do contracting work for UKPN. The British Gas man reporting an issue before the meter is plausible. There is a scheme running at the moment where old/potentially dangerous supplies/equipment is reported by those involved in metering etc. We often get called to jobs by UKPN because British Gas Metering has been along, condemned it and won't work on it until the defect is repaired (meter changes are a common cause). With regards to the fused neutral, if you haven't reported a fault then I can't understand why they would investigate/visit. I hope this is of help.
9. What are the names of the contractors please?
10. Do you drive without a seatbelt? I know this doesn't help your case but it might help get it clear in your mind whether there was a chance it was you. I drive a work van and always wear a seatbelt so if this allegation was handed to me I'd know 100% it wasn't me.
11. Hi All, I have sent GE Money complaints for both PPI and unlawful charges. I made complaints in seperate letters but sure enough they've put both complaints on one letter. I've reached the first hurdle (see attached). It's exactly the same as: http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?225877-Ge-Money though sadly this person hasn't posted their outcome. What next please? Do you think FOS would take this case? Cheers.
12. Many thanks. Apologies for separate thread. Because I thought it wasn't case specific it would be easier to find for someone using search. Thanks for merging.
13. It was a secured loan, which when we got the paperwork from a SAR turned out to be a mortgage. I have another thread about it: http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?379605-GE-Money-Loan-paid-but-have-outstanding-arrears-account. Thanks.
14. Hi all, I'm trying to find a letter template to send to GE Money to get the ball rolling on unlawful loan charges. I got as far as here http://www.consumerwiki.co.uk/index.php/Library:_Bank_Charges_Templates but the link seems broken when I try and proceed. Can anyone please help me out? Thanks, S
15. The charges have now been removed from the title deeds. So we begin.. Do we claim for PPI and charges separately?
16. Emmzi I have no caring responsibilities and therefore no reason for a flexible working request. "From time to time" is such a vague term - who is to say the company's interpretation or my interpretation is right. I have searched online but don't find anything - I thought there may be some cases where this term would have been tested in court, but can't find anything.
17. Hi, Is anybody able to please give me some guidance on my situation with overtime. I work for a maintenance company that deals with 'emergency' works. We have 2 situations that overtime occurs: - That at any time we are working, or on our way back to the office in an evening we can be called upon to attend new jobs, pushing us into overtime, - That you are given more work in a day than you can physically complete, again pushing into overtime. We are paid for this overtime (apart from 2 scenarios - 1. You get home early due to lack of work, spend 3hrs at home waiting for the phone to ring, the phone rings and you're forced to go back out with 30min left of your shift, they stop the overtime by 3hrs because you were at home for that time. 2. You get back to the office and clock out, they check van tracking to make sure that time between van arriving and clocking out card stamp is reasonable, and dock pay if they think not). I digress, I had a run in with a manager today because I was not happy doing overtime as my jobs had been booked in assuming I would work later. I said to him/her that my contract says from Time to Time, he said yes. I asked him what that means, he said what ever you interpret it as, but I need you to go. To me it's a bit loose. I've included quote from my contract below. Ultimately I wish not to do overtime but am prepared to do it occasionally. The management feel that the overtime entry in my contract gives them license to control my life around work, and worryingly I think they might be right. I will give my 3 months notice to opt into working time 48hr rule, but it probably won't affect me as in a 17week period I don't think I hit that limit. The problem I have is that for 8 days I can't make any plans, incase I'm called upon to work. Thanks for reading, S. P.s. I didn't go in the end, I asked if I could meet a colleague halfway to transfer stuff from vehicle to vehicle but ultimately he couldn't complete all of the job as he needed 2 people.
18. http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?379605-GE-Money-Loan-paid-but-have-outstanding-arrears-account. Have a look at the thread I've been running. I paid the account off nearly 4wks ago and I'm waiting for the charge to be removed before going any further. Good luck!
19. So it's not just my father who experiences their rude, unhelpful, wasteful, insulting, patronising (it goes on) behaviour?! He was made redundant in January. They are expecting him to attend 3 interviews a week, he can barely find a job to apply for, let alone get to the interview stage! They threat him with JSA deductions if he doesn't do it. They are sending him on a computer course this month, he's 60, never touched a computer. It's a bit late for a career in IT. They give him such a hard time, all the while hooded youths (apologies for stereotype) walk in, sign, and walk out. Thanks for your story of success, care and hope. I shall show him this thread. All the very best, S.
20. I agree, it is hard to calculate with GE Money. See my thread here, the last couple of pages may help or may not ;-) http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=379605&goto=newpost
21. Well someone else had already done the hard work, I might know spreadsheets but don't know what I'm putting into them
