  1. hmmm seems like they are serpants after anything they can get... Living in japan I am so relieved I dont have this problem at all.... and these claims companies really dont do anything... my brother in law went to one 30% of his 5K claim gone. me - with the help of CAG looking like 12K to date and not a single penny going to the claims companies Thank you CAG.... ban CMC`s I say (and pay CAG something suitable - I will be doing so as soon as I receive my redress)
  2. Hi All after some advice now. Just received the offer from NW and it is as follows: A gesture of goodwill and without and admission of liability Refund of premiums paid = 4700 Compound interest = 5250 Gross interest - tax =700 Total offer= 10700(ish). So looking at my spreadsheet this works out that they have applied an interest rate of 17.44% (approx). Now looking at my statements I have the following interest rates (although I have some substantial cash advances at 0.547%/Monthly) 2002-Oct 2004 - 17.44apr oct 2004-Feb 2010 - 18.44 Feb 2010- Sep 2010 - 23.95 sep 2010-date- 25.93 The majority of my bill pre 2010 was cash transfer at the lower 0.547/month after 201o aprox 80% of my bill was purchases at the higher rate. Now obviously depending on what rate I pump into the attached spreadsheet varies the amount of redress due. My question.\ - should I challange the offer or should I accept? In favour of accepting is 10K is a substantial amount of money and it is close to Christmas - also if i challange is it possible they will retract the offer? against accepting is the fact that this is their first offer and it seems like a rash offer to make me accpet
  3. Spoke to natwest last night and they are sending me a letter (should receive anyday) detailing an offer of ~10K (Very nice indeed). However once I receive I will ask for some advice as my calculations seem to hint at anything from 12K to 33K. (this is for a credit card). They have also opened up a claim on a loan I took out in 2000 which had 750pound PPI included. this seems to hae been rollwed over into another 4 additional loans - expect a decision on that on christmas eve
  4. not sure if this is the same for you but in my case barclays credited my credit card account with the amount of redress I was due. they then proceeded to remove this balnace from the card and send me the same amoung as a cheque. this means I had 2/3 days where the balance on my cc looked very nice but went back to normal very soon. Barclays say that this is there way of showing a payment has been made (I guess it gives them an extra electronic proof) before sending the cheque to me. the cheque of course I can use for anything and not necessarily for paying off the card balance. PC
  5. Thanks Dx, Well I will cash the cheque, accept the offer and persue the Card insurance (yearly payment) in a seperate claim. I feel this can now be classed as a success. Natwest to come.... I hope they are as quick and responsive as Barclays (although it is a much bigger claim)
  6. Hi All, I now have the letter from Barclays and they have the following to say: Your Claim has been upheld. Thank you for providing the additional information we requested. We have now finished investigating your claim and we agree that we mis-sold you PPI. We are sorry this policy was mis-sold and we will provide a full refund of 1744.41. What this means to you. We will refund all the insurance premiums you have paid together with interest paid on the premiums tod date. We have included an additional 8% interest on top of your refund as statutory compensation. We will include an extra 45 days of simple interes to give us time ot make the payment to you. Refund of premiums made: 692.68 Refund of interest charged: 552.68 8% simple interest: 623.81 Income tax deduction: 124.76 Totla refund: 1744.41. Can someone help me to suggest if I should accept or appeal. I am struggling to balance this with the spreadsheets I should use. Thanks
  7. Any thoughts? Although the mystery depend as the money has now been removed from the card...???
  8. Well the good news: Barclaycard have credited my account with circa 1700GBP and this ties up with my initial estimation of redress which can be seen in post 15. however not the smae as the newer calculation which was circa 6K. Can someone have a look as I am expecting a letter of which I will need to accept or challange. also they have credited my credit card so I am now in significantly +ve balance. should this not have been credited to my bank? in addition I have also sent in the same request to NatWest do you think they will follow the same understanding? the credit cards are from the same period (about 6months difference) and the reason for reclaim is the same (i had cover from my work). only N/W is considerbally larger claim (circa 14K). Thank you all.... once everything is settled I will of course make a donation
  9. Thanks again dx. letter sent and I even follwoed with a call quoting the letter word for word so that they could start the process. the guy on the phone even apologized for taking 8weeks to ask for more information and said it should have been quicker. not sure what they are thinking if the claim boils down to health care only.... but we will see.
  10. How does the following sound: Thank you forthe letter xxx I do notthink that you are reviewing this claim with the professionalism that isrequired of a large organization such as yourselves. I submitted my original claim 8weeks beforethis response was received and it seems that you have made no significantreview of the facts as I originally detailed. Please beassured that I am in a position where I will keep this review process going aslong as it takes for me to get the favorable response I feel I am due(including actioning a claim to the FOS). As requestedin your letter my details of the company insurance policy. Employer: xxx Details of Cover: In the case ofshort term illness my company would provide full salary for 18 weeks and halfsalary for an additional 18 weeks. In thecase of more serious sickness/health issues I would also be covered by privatemedical insurance which would pay my complete salary for 12-18months Furthermore:negating the fact that I had adequate cover for 12 months the fact you are nowasking what cover I had indicates to me that at the time of asking you did notfulfill your responsibilities of the ABI code of practice namely: “shall ensureas far as possible that the policy proposed is suitable to the needs of theprospective policy holder” You failedto: · Ask about anyexisting medical conditions · Ask if Ialready had any form of payment protection · Ask if I hadadequate protection due to possible sickness (clearly I did) In additionto the above I have also recently received additional Barclaycard statementswhich mean I have reviewed and adjusted the value of my expected claim. I haveincluded the spreadsheets but in summary: PPI charges @regular interest rate of 27.95% as averaged on my balances = 6564 Insurancecharges with corrected interest of 26.52%=810 Totalexpected claim to be: I will expect any offer you send to be accompanied bysuitable evidence and calculations that you have made.
  11. Hi all, Just an update and request for suggestions. Barclaycard have now responded today to my claim request (almost exactly 8weeks after receiving my complaint). they say in the letter: Please provide more information about the company sick pay scheme when I was sold the policy. Confirm Employer, level of cover and length of cover. I do not know the exact details of my cover it is from 2001 and a comapny I left in 2004 (although I have since rejoined). I do not beleive the company have the details of the policy although I am checking it now. Is it sufficient to name the company and state it provided private "BUPA" health insurance and was able to cover my personal expense for up to 12 months? Thanks
  12. Thanks dx, appreciate it. Not sure why the numbers are so different I beleive both sheets are accurate (I only missed perhaps 3 statements in the running sheet and I have estimated the balances so it alligns with the next statement.) Well I guess I will see what B-card come back with anyhow....the initial sheet i sent to them looks like it was undervalued (compared to the latest calcs) so I perhaps need to send an updated one before they make their decision. thanks again
  13. So i was thinking about this last night and trialed the charges in the CIS sheet and this comes out to be significantly more compound interest than the running sheet. can someone advise which is accurate?
  14. Thanks Not sure it seemed odd that the ppi running total went to 0 - but then looking at it again I guess it is ok... Not sure why but I was expeciting it to be a little higher from my original "guestimates" - Happy if this is it though! be nice to get my resposne from barclays - they have been pretty good and responsive so far so we will see.
  15. Thanks all, I have finally got the complete accounts (back to 2002) from barclaycard. I have sent the FOS questionaire to Barclaycard and waiting a response. Whilst waiting I have created the atchaed sheet as best I can from the sheet can someone have a review and let me know what they think? it seems something odd is happening around the time I cancelled the PPI in 2007.
