  1. Help Some 6 years ago i was called in to my local branch to confirm my address. It then transpired that a bank employee had merged my account with somebody with the same name ( middle name was different ) from essex, no problem i was told and it was all sorted. 3 months later an expected cheque for £2000 did not arrive, it had been sent to the incorrect address, this took 10 months to resolve Its ok sir all has been sorted , i was told. i then made a complaint and was offered £50 which i completely ignored but took the matter no further as i was assured , its ok all has been sorted. One year later i start to get red letters from a debt collection agency( wife distraught at red letters bigtime ) , which turns out to be due to a non paid bill, by guess who? again sorted again i was told Its ok all has been resolved !!!! 18 months later i tried to get a loan to purchase a new car , turns out my credit rating is zilch because of debts owed to the Halifax, again not me but Halifax were told to sort which they eventually did but my credit reating was ruined for 4 months... again Its ok sir its all been sorted One year on i receive a letter from the halifax saying my debt for £150 has been passed to a debt collection agency ( wife distraught ) my head explodes and i explain ( in no uncertain terms ) to my local branch what has happened ( again ) this is being dealt with as we speak but i received a call from the customer complaints people yesterday asking me what it would take to resolve the issue, i stated i would like it SORTED and she then offered me £200 for my inconvenience ( which as you can see has been endlessly ongoing ) My question is , is this a resonable amount or should i ask for more ( i was always advised never to accept first offer ) or should ( as i nearly did in the past ) complain to the FSA, i am not unreasonable but do not want to be ripped off ( again ) by the banking system for somethinhg they have admitted was there fault and all of this has been caused by their incompetence to put right some computer system. Thanks in advice for any help received and sorry for long question...
