In case anyone has the same problem understanding what is counted, the answer from the CAB is: For the purposes of Tax Credits any hours for which you are paid are counted in their calculation. It is therefore important that you include these hours.

Hi all, I just need some advice about working hours and how you work this out. I know that seems odd! I work for an airline and fly longhaul. I have seen that 'work' is classed as anything you do for your employer in return for payment. I also had a look at 'qualifying remunerative work' here: http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/manuals/tctmanual/tctm02450.htm Now, when I am away I am on duty for the entire period, therefore according to that document I am classed as 'working' and I am getting my hourly rate. I would usually expect to do 1 flight a week which equates to about 45 hours, is that what I list on my claim form as my weekly working hours? Any help much appreciated!! Thank you!!
