  1. Yes, I've checked, but it's never been free. Yet me and the other half sat and activated them together. Calls from the other half to myself are free, but not from me to the other half
  2. I've been with Orange for six years and have various different accounts with them totalling around £250 a month (Various family have phones with my name). Anyhow, me and the other half have phones and added each of them as "Magic Numbers" using the "Your Account" app, from Orange. The bills have been reasonable until this one where I'm 544 minutes over, which equates to around £150 (33p per minute). All of this has been caused by me and my partners religious 57 minute chats NOT being counted as a "Magic Number" call, which should be free. I've rang up and given it to 'em hammer an' tongs, to which they responded "the number ending in 544 has never been on your magic numbers, but we can refund you for all the calls where you've been over your allowance and been charged for these". Marvellous I thought, until I was told only 181 minutes had been refunded. I'm now still in massive debt with these cowboys, yet they wont refund me the full 544 minutes that I'm over because it'd be too difficult to go through my bill and pick out the calls. I said, I don't mind if you just take the calls over 5 minutes, round it down and refund me for all of those, since my "Free" calls being taken from my allowance caused me to go over my minutes allowance and be charged for calls that should have been free under my contract. Where do I stand, since they seem to have given me 181 minutes (Which are calls to the other half), yet wont give anymore as they say that the rest that have gone over are other numbers, yet, the other numbers would be free if their systems were running straight in the first place. Please help.... Regards.
  3. The Glow Plug Light staying on could mean there's an issue with the plug, turbo or intercooler (Dependant on what make and model it is!). It means lots of things, but should go out within a few seconds in these temperatures. No spare wheel isn't an issue, in fact, a lot of cars now have them removed as part of the "Diet" new cars go on to pass into the lower tax brackets in the UK. The Speedometre could be ABS problems (Check that the light comes on and if all seems well, find a dead bit of road and tread on the brakes to make sure the ABS kicks in and acts appropriately). All in all, I'd reject and request a refund and then find another.
  4. Can I just say, I'm not completely tech'd up on this... But if an engine "Fails", it can cause all sorts of random readings. Fifth Gear purposely ran a Proton Wira out of oil and drove it for a few miles and the last thing it did before seizing up was send the rev counter off the chart. I'd say something similar could have happened here if something has become unlubricated, it could have caused the errattic reading on the ECU of the engine speed. Search "Fifth Gear Oil" on youtube to see the original footage. 9225RPM at 113mph would have to include you removing the rev limiter and taking up to that speed in third gear or something like that...?
  5. If you're found to have "Full Swing" Bi-Polar, your doctor will advise you on what to do. You should inform the DVLA or seek advice on the DVLA website for a full list of "Mental" illnesses (I hate that word!) that can exclude you from driving. They may contact your doctor and see how bad episodes are and so on to make the decision. Insurance companies will ask if you've notified the DVLA of any illnesses, if you have any restrictions on your license or if you're on a yearly review of your license. It may affect your premium payable. I hope this helps.
  6. Wheels are a grey area. On Vauxhalls, as long as they're "ET45 to ET49" (The amount they protrude from the hub) then they'll fit. The Zafira Life is the base model, so it wouldn't surprise me if 15" are the original wheels, that said, I know the later ones have 16". There's no real risk and no real reason to return the vehicle as a tyre with a larger profile could have much more impact on the ride height than the actual rim diameter. The suspension isn't going to collapse and the size of your wheels certainly doesn't change the amount of body roll a car suffers from. Just to add; I've put 15" Astra alloys on my Cavalier and the handling has marginally changed, in that the extra rubber compared to my old 13" wheels makes it a little more bearable in wet weather!
  7. You're well within your rights to reject the vehicle as unsuitable for purpose IF you can prove the fault isn't your own doing. I had a Turbo Diesel car once and 12 weeks down the line, the oil seals on the turbo went, causing it to ingest it's own Engine Oil as "Fuel". The end result was, I was stranded at the roadside with a car screaming at well past the "Red Line" until it ran out of oil and seized. I really don't know why people bother buying Renault Diesels as all the horror stories from people out there are just too much for me to even think about putting my family in one... The end result of my issue was, that the dealer said the fault was of my own doing as I "Didn't understand how to drive a Turbo engined car". If you rev them too much from cold or turn them off straight after a long run, this can gravely reduce the life of the Turbo. If your service hisory indicated it's been kept up to date, I'd have no issue asking the dealer to take the car back or repair it at no extra cost. However, if it was due a service when you bought it and it wasn't done, then the "Blame" (None implied) could be laid on you.
  8. Good morning... I took my 1989 Cavalier into a large chain of Vauxhall dealers in Cambridge for a hose pipe. I was only going to buy it and fit it myself but the service chap told me that the rubber combined with the oil could have become corrosive and it'd be better done in the workshop, free of charge seeing as it was such an old car and easy to work on! (Bonus, I thought! The dealership I normally use in Stapleford have been amazing with my old Cavalier and love having it in the workshop, normally giving me healthy discounts!). It came out with a hosepipe fitted but the Vehicle Inspection Report was nearly ALL Red (Red Green and Amber). They said you MUST have these faults rectified; Oil leak from the cam cover gasket - I replaced it three months ago, it hasn't used a drop of oil since, yet apparently, they could see it "Pouring out" of the cover Reversing lights inoperative - Both my brake lights blew for some unknown reason and I took the Reverse Lights out to replace the blown brake lights. They insisted this was not the case and I needed a new switch to be fitted Both rear tyres needed replacing - With 3mm of tread on them? Really? They're in perfect order. And finally, I loved this... Steering/Suspension; Power Assisted Steering Inoperative - Requires further investigation... At this point, I paid the £11 for my hosepipe and walked out, collecting my car. It's not got Power Steering! Be careful even with main dealers, because when it went into the other branch of this network, it got all greens. They're thieving ****...
  9. With respect, a car that was worth £500 when bought, with a "Book" value of £250-300 as could well be the case wouldn't be the thing to worry about. Think about it, are they going to send a team of people, put diesel in the truck, employ a driver, remove your car and risk getting £150-200 at auction? It's not in their interest to even think about it. As Renegadeimp has said, Debt Collectors can not do anything but ask in a reasonable manner that you pay. If you do not, then it's tough titty on them. Their next step will be to threaten and scream and throw their teddies out of their cot, but there's not very much they can do. County Court is seemingly out of the question as the debts appear to be statute barred, so sit back, relax, keep the car, take your kiddy out whenever you want because the car, I'm sure, will sit tight.
  10. I must say, with lower level incidents especially where the offending item cannot be found / is not on the proposed accused, declining a caution will take a little longer in the Police Station, but can normally end up with an NFA.
  11. I buy and sell a lot of Vauxhalls and drive a 23 year old car with the same engine block as your boy's Corsa. My Cavalier has never been thrashed from cold or held at full throttle for too long. The reason for this is that Vauxhall Small Block engines (50% of the 1.6 Range and all smaller engines) are NOT made for this treatment. If he's jumped in it, thrashed it from cold and given it a good leathering down the M4 for 100+ miles, it's not going to have lasted long. I personally wouldn't have tuned a 1.6 Corsa engine as they are a bit "Soft" but that's neither here not there. He's smashed the crap out of an engine that started life in 1980 with 90BHP in the early Cavalier! I wouldn't worry, you've got paperwork showing that it was maintained and that there's no reason for failure.
  12. Swinton offered my Mum £200 for her Peugeot 405 Estate. After they told me I could get a 406 for £300 on eBay, I mentioned that it was SPARES/REPAIR which they said was "Better condition than your mothers car!". I went to view the car and it was like it'd been in another accident, I demanded the pictures and found; Dents on the roof (Not there when we handed the car over) All wheel trims missing (All present when handed over) Airbags Deployed (Apprantly done to de-toxify the car ready for scrapping!?) I threatened to call the police for criminal damage as the vehicle was only taken away to be assessed!!! They instantly upped the offer to £600 and said "No more, we've found one identical on autotrader". Got £775 for an M-Reg 405 Estate in the end as Mum's was the top spec with AC, ABS, 7 seats etc... It's worth the fight in the end. Ask for the pictures of the vehicle to be emailed over if you're in any doubt of the condition of the vehicle or inspect it. Without the pictures, Mum would have rolled over and taken the first offer, which WOULDN'T buy a Peugeot Diesel of any sorts.
  13. Morning guys, just had this e-mail from OPOS; Hi Yukiko, Please find below a breakdown of your account as requested as forwarded by Mini Credit. Interest in total £365 (1% of the Principal per day) 3. Overdue penalty £25 (was added on the 1st day overdue) 4. Overdue penalty £55 (was added on the 3rd day overdue) 5. Debit Attempt fees in total £630 (every unsuccessful attempt to receive the repayment costs up to £5) 6. Debt Recovery fee £100 (was added on the 30th day overdue) Due to the high level of charges applied to the account we are able to offer significant discounts to settle the account. To settle this account we can offer you £350 as full and final payment on this account. Please let me know if you are able to take advantage of this offer. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Kind regards Campbell Is it just me or is £630 in debt recovery charges a little excessive? Yukiko
  14. Right, I've got in a right hissy with this lot over the last few weeks and have sent the following e-mail. It's a bit sarcastic, but they've been calling me 10-15 times a day recently. They're now requesting I send them my new insurance documents through, but I don't want them causing issues with my new insurer. Nor' do I want them knowing ANY of my details that I don't need to give them? To whom it may concern; I am writing in response to a letter recently sent to me in relation to an alleged debt owed to EUI LTD (Trading as Elephant.co.uk). I respectfully deny you access to copies of my new insurance paperwork as this is confidential. The only way I am willing to send them is when it starts snowing in the devils garden. However, I do have an e-mail from Elephant saying that the balance has been satisfied and will add a screenshot as an attachment for your observations. Failure to note properly that this has been attached will result in a further complaint being made to the FOS and OFT regarding Coleman-CTTS and Elephant. This debt has been SATISFIED and I shall not be making payment to you, Elephant or whatever else decides to start sending me stupid letters through the post. Further communication by telephone will cause me to commence proceedings for telephone harassment; including but not limited to criminal action. Further requests for personal documents (Which you're not entitled to ask for) will be met with negative response. I hope we're now on a level playing field and Clown'n'cuts finally stop chasing a bad debt, more than likely purchased at a dodgy back street auction. Regards
  15. Hi guys, I seem to posting all over this website, but will try and keep this short! I am employed by a well known security company (Not G4S!!!) on a 45 HPW contract. Up until the end of November last year, I worked all my shifts, only had time off sick when I couldn't get out of bed and was always on time, unless something terrible had occurred. At the end of November last year, I found that I was without an important piece of kit and utilised what was available in the right possible manner. I can't go into much detail on this, but someone accused me of stealing this item and I was suspended without pay for 5 days. I moved to a different area (This was planned) and continued to work in a new location for 6 months. Towards the end of this 6 months, I over heard a conversation saying that "He's only relief, he'll be replaced soon, I think". I was mortified as I am on a permanant contract and relief guards are usually non-literate and unable to grasp the english language (Although, for all intents and purposes, can fulfill their job role pretty decently). I was pulled from that contract due to me wanting to branch off into a different part of the business and was put forward for work on an MOD site. This requires MOD-SC clearance. I applied for this at the end of May 2012 and still haven't heard back. The real issue is, the amount of hours I'm getting aren't what I'm contracted to and I'm really starting to struggle financially because I'm not working my correct shifts. This week for example, I'm working Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Each shift is 9 hours. Am I entitled to be paid the remaining 18 hours or am I out of luck cos' I haven't worked it? Occasionally, they allow me to utilise my remaining holiday to prop my hours up, but I don't think this is very fair? I'm getting fed up cos' my pay cheques are now £200-300 less than normal. Any advice?
  16. Perhaps we could continue this by PM? You've obviously got many more years experience than myself and I'd be happy to listen. At which point, I shall make the required changes.
  17. SP, that was my point. We're not doctors and therefore, it is safe to assume that an adult is capable of using the toilet in the correct manner I never intended this to be a debate, only to help people highlight failings if they've been in a position to need to ask the question, "was I treated right"?
  18. So, if a store detective etc stops and holds somebody who is ill, degrades them by letting them mess themselves or so on, a court wont award damages for the witholding of a human right, or infact the liberty of that citizen?
  19. Indeed. I was told when training (On the license course, not to work for the company) that; "You're a Doorman, not a doctor. In some cases, if you withold toilet facilities where they're readily available it could cause health issues and so on resulting, more than likely someone being sued. The only time you should deny them access is when there is a real risk to life or limb, either to the offender or other people". That REAL RISK has to be uncertainty over their state of mind, personal safety or other peoples safety. Imagine that... Tesco's guard stops diabetic from using toilet thus putting the offender in hospital etc... It'd be a nightmare!
  20. OKay then, so you'd be happy being stopped with no explaination as to who the person was? You wouldn't get panicked and possibly lash out? Lol... OKay then. My apologies, it's s24a Pace. "The statutory power of any member of the public in England and Wales to detain someone they consider to be involved in criminal activity is to be found in section 24A of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1974. A person "other than a constable" may arrest without a warrant anyone:" Without being able to openly reference this practice in a statement, or give a step by step in the order of; "Mr Thief entered the store at 1330 and approached the lemons. He extended his right hand, selected and concealed a lemon which was later found on his person. At this point, he passed all points of payment and went for the exit". ^^^^^ sounds better than "I think I saw him come in and when he left, there was a lemon missing. It must've been him cos' there weren't no other people looking at the lemons".
  21. Hi guys, I've just had a barrage of telephone calls and Text Messages from Mackenzie Hall. I've told them to e-mail me all further correspondance, to which they started getting very grizzly on the phone. I politely told them that acting in such a manner will give me no cause to deal with them, then they hung up. Does anybody have an e-mail address for them?
  22. The particular retailer I occasionally work for (and trained to be part of) have three criteria for submitting a civil recovery; 1; The offender must be of sound mind 2; The offender must be over 16 3; The offender must be under 65 I don't know whether this is guidelines, law or what. But I refuse to use civil recovery as the courts normally give me back what I'm owed (If the goods are removed from the premises and are unsaleable under H&S grounds). The problem is, when people contest it, I refuse to waste my time sending CCTV etc to RLP companies just to prove it. If I've made an honest nick, the person has been arrested and charged and gone to court etc, they will be punished. If I get my money back from the courts then I'm even happier. Our usual RLP was screwed recently for DOUBLING the figures an officer sent to them. £100 per hour for the Managers Time!!! They're not worth the time of day.
  23. Might I just say, we're not all bad. We do have hearts, and have jobs to do. The ONLY time I'd hold somebody from leaving, using force if required is if the situation was volitile. And, I've never submitted civil recovery on a "First-Timer" (Not that it's worth doing really because I'll get paid either way, as will management!!!) A ban is worthless really, as it never stops someone from entering a different branch. Police action is what is needed most of the time with the firmest stance being taken against gangs - Not the desperately poor!
  24. Right, I sent Coleman-CTTS (The "SOLICITOR" acting for CARS) an e-mail disputing the debt on 16/08 and received today a letter saying; We refer to our letter dated 25/7 and note that neither we nor our client have heard further from you. Please not that our instructions are that in the absence of hearing from you with your proposals to settle the outstanding balance, our client may instruct us to take further action in relation to recovering the outstanding amount due, which will involve further costs and interest being added to the amount payable. To avoid our client instructing us to proceed, please contact us on 0208 296 7954 in order to discuss the matter. In these severe circumstances, we would urge you to contact us to avoid further action being taken. In the absense of receiving your response within seven days, we will report the position to our client and ovrain instructions in relation to proceeding. At the bottom, there is a remittance notice to send along with a cheque for £174.09 + 2.50 ??? WTF?
  25. I can't comment as to who's a liar or what not... But if the store has toilets, there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn't use them. By going into their office, you weren't convicted, you weren't found guilty, therefore you are still a citizen with rights. I'd be writing a strong letter of complaint to head office (If applicable) and going down the lines of medical grounds. I personally hate store detectives/profit protection/security staff thinking they can hold anyone for anything without question.
