  2. Thanks very much, I'm feeling a lot better today.
  3. Here I go again! After getting charges back from Nationwide, they closed my account. I changed to Co-op. No problems for first 6 months. Then in December I ordered some goods from Amazon. For some reason, they kept telling me my card wasn't being accepted. This went on for some days. I then asked my neighbour if she could pay for me, and I would pay her back. She kindly agreed. Guess what, Amazon then took the payment from my card after all. So I made a payment to Amazon and also one to my neighbour which took me overdrawn (I have no overdraft faciltiy on the account). So far, the Co-op have charged me £58.50 for something that wasn't my fault at all! So I am about to send them a polite letter asking for those charges to be reunded. Watch this space!
  4. I've been reading this thread with interest. I got MRSA in June 2004 when in hospital for a hernia op. I was off work for 4 months. My wound healed, I felt better and went back to work. My GP was doing regular swobs which were always positive for MRSA. I never got a negative result. Just before Xmas my wound opened slightly.Went back to GP for a swob. Confirmed it was MRSA (again - or still?). GP put me on oral antibiotics which made me feel worse. I am currently signed off work for another 2 weeks. I have to go and have some blood tests next week. My theory is that as I never had a negative swob the infection has been in my body for the past 2 years. What this means long term I have no idea. But it's not a nice thought!

Success! Daughter got £30 refunded (she was only charged £20!)

Well my daughter is carrying on the family tradition. She opened a Nationwide account to go travelling in Europe, wasn't able to check her balance abroad and has been charged £20 for going (accidentally) £30 overdrawn. And she's a poor student! She's written a nice letter to the branch asking for it back. Watch this space!
  7. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.
  8. Mine took a week from the claim being lodged to the money going into my account. Maybe we should have a competition to see who gets it the quickest!
  9. You're right not to be scared, they should cough up any day. But they will close your account (they did mine) so make sure everything's transferred over. Good luck!
  10. Rather dramatic title to this thread! It is quite normal for them to do this, they closed my account after I claimed my charges back. It's inconvenient but it hasn't killed me.
  11. Good luck, you're braver than me! Nwide have now closed my account, I didn't feel brave enough to do the injunction malarky, but will be following this with interest, and cheering you on!

Just received my letter from Nationwide closing my account. They enclosed a cheque for the closing balance of £9.52 (but I emptied it yesterday!). They say if I attempt to use my card or cheque book they 'will view this as attempted fraud and may start legal action' !!!
  13. Good luck to both of you. Keep us posted and don't give up, you will win!
  14. Good luck! I don't know why they continue with their pathetic process before coughing up. I guess it's to see if you give up. Don't they ever learn?
  15. But do bear in mind that all banks are the same in terms of ripping us off!
  16. Encouragement from me too. Keep going, you will succeed.
  17. Yes good luck to you. Sounds like you're well prepared.
  18. They are closing my cuurent account, but not my ISA! So be prepared, open an alternative account just in case.
  19. I was wondering about going to the AGM, perhaps we should start a new thread specifically to see who is up for going?
  20. I have a basic account with Nwide, cash card, no overdraft. They wrote to me the other day, giving me 30 days notice that they were closing my account. But I still have access to internet banking and can still use my card. They seem to be treating people differently, I don't know why.
  21. They are closing accounts, as we know (they are closing mine), so make sure you have an alternative. Good luck!
  22. Don't worry, they said that to me too, but still coughed up the whole lot before it went to court. Good luck!
