  1. Hello I would like some advice as to whether I should bother submitting a claim for ppi and or charges reclaim for an old Barclaycard credit card account. I was having problems repaying this account in 1990-1992 (during and following the previous major recession) finishing with Barclays issuing a County Court summons and if I remember CCJ in 1995, the amount outstanding at that time was £1290 which had reached £1541 when the Summons was issued and was increased by court charges etc to £1657. The outstanding amount has still not been paid. From what I can remember at that time the majority of the original amount owed then was formed from the accumalated charges for late payments etc imposed at the time. I had during the problem time applied for repayment under the ppi (cant remember exact reason) that was paid for monthly (the amount varied dependent on the outstanding balance) but was informed at the time that as I was self employed that the insurance was invalid. I then requested that they refund the money that was paid out so far on the insurance but was advised that it was not possible to do this, I cannot remember if i managed to get the payment stopped from that point or not. I do not wish to start any further legal problems with this old account as it is no longer being chased but if it is worthwile reclaiming ppi and costs it may be advantagous to me. Thanks for any help David

  3. Hello I am having problems with Citycards Credit Card account that has been passed on to various debt collection firms and would appreciate any advice. The credit limit was £1500 which was exceeded and reached approx £1900 due to interest and charges, this was at around December 2003 I was paying in excess of the Minimum payment stated on the statements at the time but was unable to reduce the balance. around Sep / Oct 2004 I stopped making the payments due and the debt escalated to £2642.92 by Apr 2005, the debt was then passed on to Hillesden securities who hounded me and eventually sent a threatening letter which offered me a reduced payment I cannot at the moment locate this letter or remember the exact amount offered (I think around £ 1500 - 1600) but I talked to them and they agreed I could pay them a sum of £1200 immediately and they would see what could be done about the remainder I did this in March 2007 and have not heard anything else from them. They passed the details on to Direct Legal & collections who constantly bombarded me with letters and phone calls which I mainly ignored, however the have now passed this on to Ruthbridge Ltd who have now sent me a letter offering me a full and final settlement figure of £966.92 to be paid by 10-08-08 or they will begin Bankruptcy proceedings for the full outstanding balance of £1442.92 plus interest for the past 24 Months Please advise should I pay this and / or try and claim back the original interest and charges of £ 1000 plus from citifinancial if not what can I do to get rid of this problem Thanks in advance for any help
