  1. Oh, it's not that I think I shouldn't pay - I merely have more important things to pay for and this because of the circumstances it happened, with the year long gap between payments has taken the least priority. I'm happy to dodge payment on this until I can properly afford it. I know of plenty of people who have bought things and not paid, just because, and got away with it. I've never been in a situation like this before hence asking about it Thanks again
  2. Thanks for the quick reply. So you recommend calling Barclays? I would have thought they'd sold it on already having had 3 different companies asking me for it? When would a company generally move for a CCJ? Given the country is in financial ruin I'm guessing there's hundreds of thousands of people owing much more than I do. Sorry to sound like I don't want to pay, I'm happy to I just need to know how long I can drag my heels or if it can be ignored all together. Thanks again
  3. Hello and thanks for taking the time to read this, A few years ago I decided to purchase an Apple Macbook for £1060 and took out finance with Barclays to pay for this. The finance was taken out on 30th June 2010. I received the Macbook and understood payment was set up and would leave my account once a month. After a few months I realised they'd taken nothing from me, and being careless with money decided to just continue to let them not take anything until they noticed. A year later to the day they sent me a letter saying there'd been a system error and my direct debit wasn't started so they were going to start it and the payment which I'd initially agreed to pay (30 a month) would be taken per month. I didn't have a problem with this until my circumstances changed and I was out of employment for a while. I received numerous calls from Barclays, which I ignored, and since then have had Mercers, Moorecroft and most recently Apex relentlessly calling me. I have no intention of speaking to any of these people and they can call me until their hearts are content. My credit is poor anyway so I'm really not bothered about owing them anything. I'm back in employment now but I'm hesitant to pay them anything as I'm unsure if A) they can after a year suddenly decide to start taking payment from me, and B) 2 years down the line, have they actually sold the debt on and can any further action be taken against me by these debt collection agencies? Apex have tried sending me the letters saying they're working on behalf of their client Barlcyas and the latest is telling me I'm due a home visit, which again I'm not concerned about as he will be told to jog on if they knock on my door. Another thing is their initial letter was offering me a reduced payment which I understand from reading other posts may mean they are basically begging for ANY payment at all. Basically I'd like some information regarding where I should go with this. As I've stated previously my credit is poor anyway so I'm happy to just ignore these guys but my only concern is a CCJ - would they take me to court for it? What happens if I just chose to continue to ignore them? Thanks in advance
