  1. Hi all, This is my first post as I've never really had any issues before so any advice would be gratefully accepted. Here is my tale of woe..... My sister and I decided to move in together, she is a single mother training to be a nurse and I work away most of the time so it made economical sense, especially as we knew the landlord and the rent was cheap. As NPower were the current providers we took on the account in my sisters name in November 2010 and were given estimated payments of £86 per month for gas and electricity. My sister questioned if this was enough as it was a fairly large house, she was assured it would be sufficient. In November 2011 a letter popped through the door informing us that our payments were to go upto £170 a month. My sister rang them to inquire why and gave a meter reading, the lady she spoke to said that as well as the payments going up we were also £330 in debt to them. My sister was assured that the £170 would bring the account nearer to £0 by April as this was NPower's aim. I myself then gave a meter reading in January 2012. We then came to move out of the house at the end of February 2012 and rang to give a final meter reading and find out how much we owed, hoping it would be less than the £330 it was in November. To our horror we were informed that we owed them £730. This is despite paying every bill on time by direct debit and giving meter readings. The meter readings are correct. I have rung on several occasions, on one occasion a person in the billing department didn't have one of our bills on his system and promised me he would ring back in half an hour when he had investigated, he never called me back. Since then I have spoken to a manager in the billing department who has accepted that in November we were ill informed and that the meter reading hadn't been put onto the billing system, even though it is on my final bill. I feel that when I speak to them they just go in confusing circles and at no point have they offered a consistent explanation other to inform me that I've used the gas and electricity and must pay for it. They don't agree that the advice I got in November dictated my usage in for far as even living there, it would not have been econimical to live together had we been advised properly in November. Any help appreciated. Many thanks, and apologies for the long post but its getting on my goat! Cheers, Phil.
