Does anyone know if there's an official definition of what constitutes care for the purposes of claiming carers' allowance? Mum has dementia, looked after by dad (who can't get CA because of his pension), I live long way away but go up for several days at a time quite regularly plus do quite a lot of other stuff like form filling, buying clothes for mum, chasing up appointments etc. Could I qualify for CA (I'm currently on JSA but would like not to be) on the basis that I average 35 hours a week of care, just that I do it in big chunks and not every week? Can't find any kind of definition of 'care' from DWP...
