  1. Ok, the log book for the car is addressed for here.. Shall I get my partner to change it back to his mums address just for now.. i live above a car park, so he has to park away from the flats.. I had a payment plan of £25 a month.. I had a letter where I had to write down my earnings and spending's.. They told me £10 a month wasn't enough.. So told me to pay £25.. At this time, my partner was unemployed and not intitiled to anything.. And i earn too much for us to claim any sort of benefits.. Which the lady at the council couldn't believe.. She kept saying if I could claim benefits, all this would stop! Im seriously considering packing in my job, because that seems the only way I will get any sort of help from the government.
  2. So shall I just keep paying the council every week? I've already phoned the bloke dealing with the debt on Friday, that's when he said he'll have to come to my flat to see what goods they can put against the debt, the car is also my fiance's he's paid it off.. so it's entirely his.. But because the debt is in my name, they can't take anything that is his right? I live in a secure building, unless they know the codes to get onto my floor the furthest they'll get too is the lift.. I just don't know what to do.. They told me because i haven't paid enough, they've passed me over to the bailiffs and they won't recall the debt to themselves.. I'd rather just pay the council.. I earn a part time wage, around £570 a month, I can just about pay my rent and a couple of bills. The council say because I don't claim benefits, they think I can afford whatever they want me to pay.. is there anything I can do to show them I just can't afford the amount they want me to pay?!
  3. Hi there, On Friday, I received a letter from a company called Constant & Co, on behalf of Central Bedfordshire Council in regards to unpaid Council Tax for the year 2010/2011.. Total £361.58.. At the time I was receiving Housing and Council Tax Benefit.. I have been paying the council online, £5 one week, then £10 the next.. and Rotate that way.. The letter says: TAKE NOTICE: We have attended today to seize your goods for sale at auction and unless we hear from you by return we will re-attend without notice and at your expense. Further charges may be reduced by responding to this letter promptly. Details of your financial circumstances will be required if immediate full payment is not made. Any payment you make to the Council may not be deducted from this debt. ALL payments should be made directly to Constant & Co. --------------------------------------------------- Nice huh? I'm 24, I've never had to deal with bailiffs in my life.. I haven't had letters saying they were going to come round.. Just that one.. I rang the council. They said it's in the hands of the bailiffs speak to them.. Spoke to the bailiff.. He wants £100 a month, to come round my flat and write down possessions against the debt, and add another £200 on top of the debt.. I don't own anything.. The goods in my flat are either my landlords or my fiance's .. I told them I didn't own anything then asked if I had a car to put against it! I need help, I'm worrying so much they're just going to barge in and take either my landlords stuff or my fiance's... I can't afford £100 a month, I work part time and I'm not entitled to benefits.. Some help or advise would be much appriciated! Thanks, Hayley
