  1. Hi glen that goes without saying really. It would be nice to have a cheque to spend but as I said the citicard account is closed so they can't refund the charges to my account / debt. Having said that and with a long way to go to pay off he debts every little helps. I don't know wether i would be happy with a pro rata to everyone because some of my creditors have been right twats and for me i'd rather give it to the ones who have helped me rather than those who have had me on the brink of suicide...... 2. I'm with the CCCS or consumer credit councolor service and Citicard have sold their debt onto Cabosh finance. I'mgoing after the Citicard and as i understand it as they have sold the debt on then they will need to send me a cheque. On the other hand, my other debtors....up to 15 of them will probably put the money straight into my account therefore reducing the debt I owe. having said that it has been said on this site that you can demand the money back in any form you like, i.e. cheque or credit to your debt account. HTH Alan
  3. We are all playing hell about the banks here but I sent my s.a.r. off to them on the 9th of september with my £10 cheque. They sent me the copy statements back today and the £10 cheque was paperclipped to them. They only owe me £30 as it happens but it was nice of them to deal with it so fast and so efficiently....well I thought it was. Alan
  4. Do a site search on my name and see what i've written about dodgy DD's on nationwide accounts. What they do, or did in my case is reinstate a DD after I have cancelled it and then when it is returned unpaid they bang on the £30 in charges so i pay off £35 in my CCCS agreement and they put interest and these spurios charges for bounced DD and that comes to about £49 so i'm in greater debt each month even though I'm trying to pay it all back. Incidentally I complained to them and told them I was going to the banking ombudsman and also to try and get them removed from being a credit provider and they offered me £120 today ......I'm owed over £3k......
  5. I sent a letter requesting my charges be returned about 3 weeks ago and within days of sending that letter I got a letter telling me that they were withdrawing my overdraft facillity of £3400 and it had to be paid back imediatly all £3400! I've since had the phone calls every day and I'm civil to them but the easiest way to get rid of them is to ask if this call is being recorded ? they will invariably say no so I say well I must point out to you that this call is being recorded by myself and will be used in any court action taken including ACTION I MAY TAKE AGAINST YOU. After a few seconds of silence I ask them for their name, their contact details and the department they work for........ It's amazing how many times they drop the phone and it goes dead....... i'm very blase about it now as I'm skint so they can't have what i don't have and I've worked out that the charges they owe me are in excess of the max overdraft limit .
  6. All the DDM were cancelled via the internet and each time they pop up I cancel them again via the internet so none of them were active. I had to use the internet because i cut up the card and the nationwide branch in my town won't access my account without the card. I think it is playing hard ball because of the advances problem but I'm not bothered. I'm happy to let these lie until they respond to my letter asking for an explination and if they don't then they get lumped onto the claim and hopefully interest will be paid.
  7. Might not be of help to you but I sent all of mine by special delivery to make sure they had to be signed for and now i'm going on the royal mail ebsite http://www.royalmail.com to do the track and trace for the special delivery. So far 4 of them have been signed for, 6 more to check. I've also done a print out and stapled it to the post office reciept. HTH Chimp
  8. The Nationwide are good at playing dirty tricks and over charging. I had a morgage with them and 6 further advances as they call them (we were doing up the house) the last one the branch staff fiddled our income levels in order to get us the money. It wasn't noticed at the time but they did it and i have paperwork to prove it. We have a loan with them also and it is unsecured. I have not paid full costs since january but made minimum payments. they say they will got to court and have a charge put on my house but I would argue that the interest they are wanting to charge is punative and therefore illegal. Anyway they have gone quiet on this one after offering me a settlement figure, If I paid them £3k they would close the loan account worth £7,500. can't afford this so I told them to take me to court but also told them of the above. They haven't as yet. Also in January I cancelled all my direct debits, standing orders, internal transfers etc on my flex account but each month a new direct debit mandate appears for one of my creditors. This obviously bounces and the nationwide put on the account an Unpaid DD fee of £30 despite the fact i have cancelled all of the debits.... I've wrote to them asking for an explination before i go to the banking ombudsman and also to try and get their credit licence revoked so i'll have to see what happens but the Nationwide are good at extra charges. If you are all appologetic and shy they will hound you. I have found the best way with the nationwide is to question every word they say, ask for supporting documentation in writing, not photocopies but original documents and hassle them as they hassle you. If they are nice to you be nice to them but if they are being obnoxious then be the same back but what i also do is ask them if the call is being recorded and they say no then I say ok in that case I must tell you that for safety and training purposes I am recording our conversation and I will use it in a court of law....by the way what is your name ????? It's amazing how many times the phone goes dead but wait for the message "the other person has hung up, the other person...." then speak into the phone to leave a time stamp on your recording... HTH Chimp
  9. One at a time ?? I've just done 8 at once and still have 5 to go.... Oh well here's to a good christmas.... Chimp
  10. Ok, further to the other post I made today, the nationwide is being the pain and not helping me with the CCCS which is I suppose their right. however, When we applied for a loan ( subsequently defaulted on jan 06) the local branch worker fiddled my income to let the loan go through. I didn't notice this or I'd not have taken the money but since then because i can't pay all the loan each month the nationwide have pulled my overdraft in. They stated in the letter that because i hadn't paid the loan back they were removing my overdraft. ( as a direct cosequense) The gauling part is that i followed the advice on here and opened another current account then stopped all the direct debits, standing orders and internat transfers etc on my nationwide flex account and each month since January a new direct debit mandate or an internal transfer or standing order appears on my nationwide statement for a debit I have cancelled. Because there isn't enough funds for it to clear it bounces and then the nationwide charges me an unpaid direct debit fee , the latest is £30. I do find it funny and gauling at the same time. Also the fact that they are able to do this in the hope i haven't been on this site. The question is how many other people is this happening too and how much are they getting in these charges....Incidently the interest for this moth is another £49.00. I've sent a letter off today asking for their excuses before i report them to the Banking ombudsman and also dropped into the letter that i would consider them to be unfit to hold a credit licence especially if they don't credit my account with the charges. See what that brings up.
  11. Probably not the right place to post but bear with me. I'd just like to say thanks for the good vibes and thoughts for the recent passing of my mam. She was a tough old bird but finally at 87 she fell off the perch. It's been a n adjustment to say the least but it's galvanised me into action and as a result i've made a donation to the site for £60, partly for the pink avatar thing a few months ago and the rest was just to round the figure up. Also i've spent all day writing the letters to the 15 places that have been [causing problems] me for charges all these years so hopefully these SAR's will start the ball rolling to get the charges back. Incidently the Nationwide phoned me again last night saying that they were pulling the £3400 overdraft ( maxed out of course with charges) and when was I going to pay it. I deliberatly started a toy that I have that is hysterical laughing and left it run for over 5 minutes propped up against the phone. Give the lad his due he sat there and waited......I eventually told him I didn't have it so he couldn't have it and put the phone down. he rang back and said that wasn't the right answer so I asked how much they owed me in illegal charges and he said he couldn't tell me. His office collegue told him to press F5 then f ??? and on his screen came up ( I assume a figue of all the charges. He wouldn't tell me so I said OK, If you refund all the charges you owe me how much will I get back ? Again he said he couldn't tell me but he did say it might be worth me writing in and asking for the charges to be refunded. By that i reckon the nationwide owes me more than £3.4K...... Anyway, thanks to the site, the mods and all the contributors lets get some more action and take these greedy swines to task. Take care, Alan Teather AKA The Chimp Choker.
  12. Thanks for the advice but actually I didn't. What happened was I filled in the form and signed it and then went home. The staff crossed out the first figure and put in the larger one then put it through on the afternoon. It was only whaen the money and paperwork came through that I realised what had happened..... Still I will be cautious. Thanks.
  13. Thanks clayts, One has been sold on to cabot. out of the 9 or 10 creditors only the nationwide is being the belligerent [edited language - sorry] and arguing that they will take me to court if I don't come up with a £3k to end a loan. Actually i'm looking forward to going to court with them. They keep threatening to send it to a solicitor, like for 7 months now as they won't agree a plan with the cccs. CCCS said that they would terminate my agreement if I took out a loan to kleer the debts so it looks as if my day in court is coming. As it happens the nationwide had my mortgage and as we were doing up the house we had further advances. The last one the lasses in the local branch fiddled our income so we could get the loan. We failed the points score in the morning and then they put it through again that same afternoon and we got the loan. What they did was increased our houshold income from £13k to £21k and I have the paperwork to prove it so I'm looking forward to my day in court and the first one of the S.A.R - (Subject Access Request)'s will be going off to the nationwide tomorrow. Mind you I might offer them £700 to pay off a £7k loan and see what they say. They say every dog has his day !!! Thanks for the advice. Chimp.
  14. I'm presently in an arangment with my creditors working with the Consumer Credit Counciloring service in which the Credit card companies have stopped adding interest onto my card bills so I can reduce my debts which are like £41,000 or so. My question is this. If i push for the charges back are they likely to reinstall the interest charges and if so do I have a right to complain as the sesation of the interest charges is on their good will and secondly how do I go about it if they demand full repayment back? Although I don't have any money i was going to ask each of them for a full and final settlement offer for each account and try to get a house loan to pay this off. Should i do the Full and finalsettlement first then apply for the charges or risk the punitive method of adding the interest charges i suspect they will go for?
  15. ...........that's not at all funny because the halifax phoned my mobile number asking for a Mr Lowrey. I explained that no Mr Lowrey was known and this number was a business number. I even took them to my internet business site so they could see it was not who they wanted but I got hassled from them for over 6 weeks until I went to the police. Obviously someone had given them a number out of their head but it happened to be my mobile.
  16. I live in hartlepool which is famous for hanging the monkey. Really i'm not scary person........well not in the day time......
  17. Thanks for the tips. I'm part way through it all now but I'm the arcitypal best customer of banks, the one who pays only minimum payments, forgets payments etc and as a guess I reckon there will be at least 12 credit cards and possibly 6 banks / build soc that owe me money. depending on what i get back there has to be a %age donation to this site for the undoubtably shed loads of help i'll be looking for. Thanks again for the welcome. Chimp
  18. newbie here, well more or less. Registered a while ago but just getting around to doing something about the charges. If I get back all I've been over charged then I reckon i'm into several £1000 pounds.......lol. I'll keep you all posted of my results . Take care, Chimp choker
